Meet Merlin. 🐱
This adorable Scottish Fold came in looking sweet, innocent, and completely harmless…

Then we mentioned the words “nail trim.” ✂️

Merlin quickly informed us that nail trims were NOT included in his plans for the day. But after we brought out a cozy towel sprayed with Feliway, he started to reconsider his position.

Feliway is a synthetic version of the natural calming pheromones cats use to communicate that an environment is safe and familiar. For some cats, it can help reduce stress and make things, like vet visits (and apparently highly offensive nail trims) a little easier.

A comfy towel, a little Feliway, some patience from our team…and Merlin decided maybe we weren’t so terrible after all.

Because sometimes good veterinary care means knowing when your patient needs a different approach. ❤️

🐈‍⬛ It’s Black Cat Appreciation Day! 🖤

For centuries, black cats have gotten a bad rap, tangled up in superstitions, spooky stories, and the old myth that crossing paths with one means bad luck.

We’re here to set the record straight: the only thing unlucky about a black cat is not having one in your life!

Black cats are every bit as loving, goofy, snuggly, mischievous, and full of personality as any other cat. And can we talk about those gorgeous coats and bright, beautiful eyes?!

Today we’re celebrating all of the little house panthers who deserve WAY more love and a whole lot less superstition. 🐈‍⬛✨

Have a black cat at home? Show them off in the comments! We want to see those beautiful faces. 🖤

A VET VISIT THAT FITS YOUR SCHEDULE? YES, PLEASE.

Between work, school, appointments, errands, and everything else life throws at you, finding time for a veterinary appointment isn’t always easy.

That’s why FurWell offers Drop-Off Exams! One of the easiest ways to get your pet the care they need without rearranging your entire day.

Here’s how it works:

🐶 Drop your pet off with our FurWell team in the morning
🩺 Your veterinarian will complete their exam during the day
📞 We’ll communicate with you about findings, recommendations, and any next steps
❤️ Your pet gets to spend the day being cared for by a team you already know and trust
🚗 You pick them up when their visit is complete!

No sitting in a waiting room. No taking a chunk out of your workday. No putting off an appointment because you simply can’t make the timing work.

You handle your day. We’ll handle their care.

Need your pet seen but have a packed schedule? Ask our team whether a Drop-Off Exam is a good fit when you schedule your pet’s visit!

Did you know it's not normal for your pet to be itchy?

Occasional scratching happens, but if your dog or cat is constantly scratching, licking their paws, chewing at their skin, shaking their ears, or developing recurring ear infections, it could be a sign of an underlying medical condition, not just "normal" pet behavior.

The good news? Relief is possible. The sooner we identify the cause, the sooner we can help your pet feel comfortable again.

If you've noticed any of these signs, don't wait for them to "work themselves out." Give us a call and let's help your pet get back to feeling their best. 💙🐶🐱

Important Pet Parent Update

Some of our pet parents may have received automated reminder phone calls from our new virtual assistant, AVA, that contained incorrect reminder information.

As part of bringing AVA online, the integration process did not complete as expected before reminder calls began. We are actively working with the AVA team to stop these calls until everything has been fully integrated, tested, and verified to ensure the information you receive is accurate.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your patience while we get everything squared away.

If you have any questions about an upcoming health services your pet is due for, please don't hesitate to call or text your clinic directly. We're always happy to help!

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this.

🎤 Survey says... FurWell team bonding for the win!

Last Friday, several members of the FurWell team traded exam rooms for buzzers (and stethoscopes for the spotlight!) as we took on The Game Show Challenge at Hampton Station in Greenville!

There may have been a little friendly competition, a few questionable answers, plenty of laughs, and at least one team that walked away with *bragging rights* (and a very large fake check 😄). Turns out the same teamwork that helps us care for pets every day also makes for a pretty fun game show crew.

We're grateful for opportunities to step away from the clinic, spend time together, and make memories outside of work. A strong team isn't just built during busy clinic days, it's built through moments like these, too. 💙

Now the real question... which FurWell team member do you think was the most competitive? 👀👇😆😆🐾❤️

Sometimes being a veterinary hospital owner means making big decisions.

Sometimes it means... dancing a tree branch out of a tree. 🌳😂

We had a low-hanging branch outside FurWell at Barkingham that needed to come down before it became a hazard. Without a tree trimmer handy, Dr. Tyler Simpson did what any completely reasonable person would do... gave the branch a little encouragement. 💃

No people, pets, or vehicles were harmed, and our parking lot is officially one branch safer.

Just another day in the life at FurWell. ❤️🐾
