Reminder! We’ll be joining our new friends at Tractor Supply for their Grand Opening on June 13th at 10:00 AM!

We’re looking for some of our already-established volunteers to help us showcase a few of our adoptable dogs during the event. If you have attended our Volunteer Orientation class and would like to help introduce our wonderful canine friends to the community, we’d love to have you join us!

Interested in volunteering? Please reach out to schedule your availability:

Not a volunteer yet? Unfortunately, only approved volunteers can assist with this event, but we’d love to see you at one of our upcoming Volunteer Orientation classes on June 20th at either 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM!

Even if you can’t volunteer, stop by and visit us! We’ll have a table set up with a donation pallet, and after welcoming Tractor Supply to the neighborhood, we hope you’ll consider supporting the shelter animals in our care. Donations can be placed directly on the pallet, and we’ll make sure they get to the dogs and cats who need them most.

We cannot emphasize enough that dogs are not the only ones who become stressed in a shelter environment.

Today we're shining a light on Piper, an approximately 4-year-old dilute calico who arrived alongside her sister, Mia, after life circumstances beyond their family's control led to their surrender.

While Mia has adjusted fairly well to shelter life, Piper has struggled.

Even before coming to the shelter, Piper had a unique stress response. When she becomes overwhelmed, her tail will begin to twitch and she'll hiss or growl at it. In the shelter, where she can see and smell other cats throughout the day, this behavior has become much more frequent. Despite medication to help ease her anxiety, the constant stress of the environment continues to take a toll on her.

But when Piper is away from those stressors, a completely different cat emerges.

She has the sweetest little meow, stretches up on her tiptoes for affection, and lights up when toys are brought out. Watching her pounce and play is a reminder that beneath all that stress is a happy, loving cat waiting for a chance to relax and be herself again.

In her previous home, Piper lived successfully with adults, children, her sister, and even dogs. However, based on what we've observed in the shelter, she may thrive best as the only cat in the home, where she can finally leave behind the anxiety that causes her to turn on her own tail.

Piper doesn't need perfection. She just needs peace.

If you're looking for a sweet companion and can offer a calm place for her to decompress, Piper may be the missing piece of your family. Come meet her and see the wonderful cat hiding beneath the stress of shelter life.

We've got more whiskers, curious eyes, and adorable personalities waiting to meet you!

Our newest feline residents are getting settled in and are ready to start searching for their forever homes. Most of them have had to deal with some pretty life altering changes due to their previous owners' circumstances, but we know once they have the opportunity to decompress in an environment meant for them they'll show who they are and why they were loved as much as they were.

So if you're looking for a chatty companion, a professional biscuit-maker, or a laid-back nap enthusiast, there may be a perfect match waiting for you.

Stop by, say hello, and let them show off their charm for themselves!
