A little peek behind the scenes at a rabbit blood draw 🐰🩸

Bloodwork is an important part of keeping our rabbit patients healthy and can give us valuable information about their overall health, which is why it’s recommended at yearly wellness exams and not just sick visits.

Using Fear Free techniques helps make procedures like blood draws a more comfortable and stress-free experience for our bunny patients. 💕🐇

While her owner was filming an interview with her at home for a video, this curious Colorado River toad accidentally swallowed the foam cover from the microphone.

She was brought to our hospital, where we performed an ultrasound to locate the foreign material, followed by an endoscopy to safely retrieve it. Thankfully, the procedure was successful, and she’s doing well now! 💚

Just another day in exotic animal medicine, where you truly never know what our patients are going to get themselves into! 😂🐸

👉 Swipe to see the endoscopy and the foam cover being removed!

🚨 Parasite removal! 🚨

This rabbit came in with a very unexpected passenger: a Cuterebra, aka botfly larva.

These little guys can enter through a wound or natural opening and grow inside a small pocket under the skin, breathing through a tiny opening 😳

Cuterebra are more commonly seen in rabbits that spend time outdoors, where they may come into contact with the flies or their larvae. Even a short amount of outdoor time can put your bunny at risk!

Watch until the end to see this uninvited guest get evicted 👀

🐰💕 Everyone feels a little braver with a friend by their side!

Sometimes that “friend” doesn’t have to be another pet! A favorite stuffed animal, toy, blanket, or other comfort item from home can help your pet feel a little safer and more relaxed during their appointment.

So next time your pet comes in, consider bringing their favorite “emotional support buddy” along!
