WT's Warden 11mth update.
He's roughly 20"atw with a 22½" head, weighing in today at 85lb. Boy loves to show off his temperament and disposition in public. As well as enough drive to have some fun and still solid enough to handle the impact. His left arm that took a bite at 4mths does look to have minor impact on growth, but I see no reason to hold it against him. I'll stick to the plan. 2 out-cross, 1 in-house to a Legacy daughter and he's done. That's all I need to choose from. I've said it many times. Most used, most popular. I don't care! This ain't my job. It's my passion. I'm building for me and no one else. The lucky ones get a piece of it.

Preventing unwanted litters is a goal we all share—but it's time to rethink the surgical approach. Hysterectomies and vasectomies, which preserve hormonal balance, can safely be performed as early as 8 weeks of age, making dogs sterile without disrupting their natural hormones.

In this study, researchers looked at whether the age at which dogs were spayed or neutered, meaning how long they were exposed to their natural s*x hormones, affected how healthy they were in old age. They studied a group of long-lived pet dogs to learn what helps dogs live longer, healthier lives. Dogs with the fewest age-related health problems were considered the most “robust.”

The results showed that both male and female dogs who kept their hormones longer (i.e., were spayed or neutered later) were 3 to 10 times more likely to be healthy in old age compared to those altered earlier. Once hormone exposure and age were taken into account, there was no difference in old-age health between males and females.

This study highlights how important s*x hormones may be for staying healthy later in life and shows that early-life decisions—like when to spay or neuter—can have long-term effects on health.

Warden almost 11mths old and grandpa Gemini 7½yrs old. Young Warden has a long time to grow before he's done. And I'm sure enjoying his journey to full potential. I can't wait to see that body fill out! I love how these dogs transform! Its truly amazing! It ain't easy guessing what's coming. After all, the way we breed is only manipulating the odds of millions of gene combinations. But after 30 years of loving that guessing game. You pick up a little insight you just can't teach, or really even explain. You just see it growing in your mind.
I love what I do. It's that dog life for me!
