🚨🥵🔥 HEAT WAVE WARNING: PROTECT YOURSELF & YOUR DOGS/ANIMALS 🚨 NEVER LEAVE YOUR DOGS/ANIMALS IN THE CAR 🔥🥵🚨
Ontario is under a heat warning and the risk of heat stroke is dangerously high. Please read and share. This could save a life.
🔥 DO NOT leave any dogs/animals or persons in cars! Even with the windows cracked, the inside of a car can hit over 45°C in minutes. Dogs can suffer heat stroke in just a few minutes. On a 30°C day, that car becomes deadly fast.
💀 How fast can it happen? ☠️
It takes minutes for a dog’s body to overheat. Once their internal temperature hits 41°C (106°F), they are in CRITICAL danger. Heat stroke can kill.
🐶🥵Signs of Heat Stroke:
• Heavy panting or drooling
• Bright red or pale gums
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Weakness, wobbling, collapse
• Seizures or loss of consciousness
🚑 What to Do:
• Move the dog to a cool area
• Pour cool (not ice cold) water on their body
• Offer SMALL sips of water
• Use a fan if available
• GET TO VET IMMEDIATELY ‼️DO NOT WAIT‼️
⚠️ No Outdoor Play
Skip the fetch. Skip the walks. Exercise your dogs only during early mornings or late evenings when temperatures are safer. If it’s too hot for your feet, it’s too hot for their paws. Stay inside sun speak hours!
🏡 Indoor Mental Enrichment
Keep dogs cool and occupied inside with puzzle feeders, frozen Kongs, snuffle mats, training games, or scent work. Mental stimulation is safer and just as tiring.
📞 If you see a dog locked in a car, call 911
This is an emergency. 👮🏼♂️
💧 HUMANS 👉🏼 Take Care of Yourself Too
Stay hydrated. Rest in cool areas. Wear light clothing. Avoid peak sun hours. This heat can be dangerous for people too, especially children, seniors, and anyone with health conditions.
