It's official: our brand new Animal Care Campus expansion is complete, and we can't wait to share it with you! Join us for an Open House on Thursday, September 10 from 10am-4pm as we unveil the new space, which will expand our ability to offer more low-cost spay/neuter services for the public and improve experiences for adopters, volunteers, and fosters.

Do you recognize this kitty? This female cat was found outside our shelter today. She will be on a 5-day stray hold with us, allowing her family time to find her if she is lost. If this is your missing cat, please come to Roice-Hurst Humane Society to bring her home!

Western Colorado and beyond: we need your help to find Cypher’s dream home! We know his future family is out there somewhere, we just need your help reaching them. ❤️

Cypher’s been waiting to be adopted for over a year now — far longer than any other pet here, and far longer than he ever hoped to spend living in an animal shelter.

Cypher came to us last August after he was found living on the streets. Shelter life was a tough adjustment at first, and he wasn’t a fan of meeting so many strangers all at once, but in time, those strangers became the friends who taught him all kinds of new life skills and tricks.

He’s got a tough exterior that melts into a soft, goofy, loyal friend the longer you get to know him. He enjoys the simple things in life: he’s happiest just laying out in the sun with a toy watching the world go by while you grill or do yard work, or splashing around in the hose water. He’s still a quirky guy, still a bit wary of new people and would prefer to be the only pet at home, but he has come a long, long way in a year and so deeply deserves to finally find the family he’s waited so patiently for.

If you have a dog-shaped void in your life, all Cypher’s asking for is a chance — please come meet him at Roice-Hurst Humane Society and see if you connect. ❤️ We’re open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4pm at 362 28 Road in Grand Junction, and adoption fees are 50% off through the end of August!

Schneegas Wildlife Foundation, a nearby wildlife rehab organization. Erin Romero, RVT, will share about the organization's work and what to do if you find wildlife in need of help!
