Colorado has detected Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI H5N1) in 11 domestic cats, including both indoor-only and indoor-outdoor cats, with only one of these cats surviving the infection.

Cats appear to be highly susceptible to avian influenza and infections often result in death. Cases in Colorado cats have been linked to both raw pet food and raw poultry consumption.

To mitigate HPAI exposure to your companion animals, CDA and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recommend against feeding raw poultry products to domestic cats. Additionally, we recommend extra precautions when handling raw pet food or raw poultry, such as thoroughly washing hands and disinfecting surfaces.

THE GOODEST BOY “Dogo” (pronounced dog-go) was disgnosed with Lymphoma back in September, and has been coming to us every few weeks (depending on the treatment schedule), for his Chemotherapy! As you can see from his picture below, he has got our technicians wrapped around his little paws and loves scratches 💘

Did you know that we offer Chemotherapy treatments?! We are one of the only hospitals in town that have the proper chemotherapy equipment, designated room and can offer treatments to pets in the valley! This is a great option for pet parents, because if not done here, owners have to drive to Salt Lake City or Denver for treatments multiple times which can get pricey!

Today, is a beautiful (but chilly) day for a walk! Some of our staff took a walk with their pets to Panini Junction Food Truck which was located just up the road in the Hartmann Farmhouse LLC Parking lot.

Go check them out! The food was delicious, and the Hartmann Farmhouse has some REALLY cute stuff!
