Our Crownpoint clinic hours are 8:30-3:30 tomorrow through Sunday, but we couldn't turn away a little pup in need of care this evening. Ryder hasn't been feeling well and needed a little tlc from Dr. Lizzy and Jess.

Ryder is ready to rest and recover and we're ready to meet all of your pups and kitties tomorrow morning beginning at 8:30. See you soon!

We have to give a HUGE thank you to 4imprint for their grant award and making these incredible shirts for us to give to our Rez Vet volunteers! We are thrilled with how they turned out! Thank you so much for supporting this important work and making sure we've got the best-dressed volunteers on the rez!

While these shirts are only available at our clinics, you can keep an eye out on our posts because we'll be announcing some limited edition t-shirts soon!

Crownpoint, we are SO looking forward to seeing you and your pets at this week's clinic!

We do have a need for a couple more volunteers, so if you're interested, please shoot us a message with your email address and we'll get you all the info you need.

No experience necessary at all. Our clinics are a great way to make new friends, see all kinds of cute dogs and kitties, and we'll be honest, maybe the biggest draw for our clinic volunteers is that our Executive Director makes outrageously delicious meals for staff and volunteers three times a day. 😋

Send us a DM or email Jess at [email protected] to find out how easy it is to come join our team for the weekend- we can't wait to meet you!

Big thank you to all of the volunteers and pet parents that came out today to make our clinic such a success. Nothing but smiles and sunshine all morning!

Congratulations to Spud and Lola as well as the whole litter of German Shepherd puppies who are about to have quite the shopping spree at Chow Down Pet Supplies Inc. with the gift cards that they won at this month's clinic!

We hope everyone - two legged and four - has a fun and safe Memorial Day holiday!

See you next month Grand Junction!

We love our Executive Director, truly. But we were also giddy with delight last week when he was completely inundated with packages from our Amazon wishlist. Every day, he’d send increasingly panicked messages to our group chat as the packages took over his front porch, his house, and threatened to take over his sanity. Some very generous anonymous supporter sent almost every item from our wishlist and gave us the greatest gifts of all in the process- some serious belly laughs and a hilarious sense of, “what in the world is happening here?”

To our anonymous friend- a thank you doesn’t feel sufficient. These items are going to help save so many lives at our clinics. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for your generosity!

If anyone would like to copycat this astonishing act of kindness, our Amazon wishlist can always be found here: https://a.co/06FEL9Ok

We’re especially in need of pop-up kennels right now as we’ll need these to bring spay and neuter surgeries to our upcoming clinics.

Thank you to all of our supporters, and especially to our secret admirer who made our hearts so happy with your anonymous gifts- we hope you enjoy seeing the fruits of your generosity!

One of the best parts of our work is when we’re invited into the community to bring care directly to pets at their homes. Oftentimes, their owners are unable to come to us at chapter houses because they have more animals than they are able to transport, or their animals are too large- whatever the reason, we’re happy to be able to show up with a veterinary team and get these dogs and cats the care they need.

That’s how we met Nicki last month!

Nicki is a gorgeous rottweiler with a loving owner who’s had her since she was a puppy. As you can see, she’s a very friendly, happy girl! Unfortunately she has been dealing with mange, a skin condition caused by parasitic mites. While her owner was doing everything he could to treat her for that, Nicki needed a little more veterinary attention to get her on the road to good health, and we were so happy to be able to provide that! With her shots up to date and additional treatment for mange, we’re happy to say that Nicki is set up for success.

As we prepare for next week’s clinic at Crownpoint Chapter, we’d like to remind the community that if you have pets that you can’t bring to the chapter house, reach out to us! We can’t promise that we can make it to every home every month, but we always try our best. There is no greater honor than working with pet owners to make sure the pets they love have access to veterinary care.

UPDATE: WE HAVE A VET!!!🥳🥳🥳

You all really came through for us! See you soon at Tractor Supply Co. !!!

🚨 Grand Junction we need your help! 🚨

Due to an unexpected personal emergency, our regular veterinarian who helps run our Grand Junction low-cost vaccine clinic needs to leave town this weekend.

We need a volunteer vet to fill in for her, otherwise we will have to cancel this month's clinic. We know how many are depending on these services so we really don't want to have to do that!

The clinic is this Sunday, May 24th from 8am to 12pm at the Tractor Supply in town.

If you are a veterinarian and are interested in helping us out, please email us at [email protected].

Please share! ❤️❤️

We welcomed some very special volunteers to our April clinic at Rock Springs Chapter House- two faculty members and four students from the Veterinary Technology program at Navajo Technical University spent the weekend with our team. It was such a pleasure to be part of the educational journey of these students as they explore the many opportunities of working as a veterinary technician. While joining our clinic, the students learned about preventative medicine protocols, record keeping, client communication, restraining animals, preparing and administering vaccines, and preventing disease transmission. They worked in the vaccine clinic line, with our urgent care veterinarian, and went into the community for home visits, providing veterinary care to pets whose owners were unable to bring their animals to the clinic.

Our medical team at Rez Vet has a strong background in teaching, and we plan to continue supporting the education of veterinary technicians at our clinics, especially once we are holding spay and neuter clinics where we can teach anesthesia monitoring and surgical preparation.

We see our work as an investment in the communities that we visit- not just helping animals, but supporting the people and families that care for them and even doing what we can to help cultivate the next generation of veterinary professionals who will one day lead this work in their own community.

Now we are asking that you invest in us so that we can continue to provide these services and experiences for the communities that we work in and allow us to grow our programs to do even more.

A birthday message from our medical director:

“For my birthday this year I have more to reflect on than ever before. As we celebrate our one-year anniversary, Rez Vet has grown from an idea among friends into fully operational clinics serving over 500 animals in a weekend. It has truly exceeded all of my expectations for what we could achieve in even a few months. At these clinics I have seen the profound impact we are having on pets and their families.
At our April clinic we were doing a home visit for someone with multiple large dogs, at least one of which was older and couldn’t travel well. She asked if we could also see her sister’s and nephew’s dogs who live next door and of course we said yes. They thanked us multiple times and were so appreciative as we said our goodbyes and left their home. Just as I made it back to the chapter house I answered a call on the clinic phone from the family we just left, expecting them to say we forgot something or they had a question. The woman we had just visited was calling to tell me again how much they appreciated us being able to come out, that we made her sister cry because she hadn’t been sure how she was going to get her pets seen by a vet this year, and what a relief it was to know they got care now. As I hung up the phone I realized that this is why we are doing this. These seemingly simple visits and some time out of our day can ease even some of the burden for families like this just trying to keep their furry family members healthy.
There are so many barriers to access regular vet care in this area and many of them are invisible. Transportation, cost, number of pets, location, and even their own health make it difficult for many on the reservation. Rez Vet is able to overcome many of those barriers through what we do. The work may never be over, and there will always be some hard days ahead, but I can think of this family and others like them I may meet in the future. This is why we have to keep pushing ahead so that Rez Vet can celebrate each birthday with even more lives that we change along the way. I hope that you’ll join us on this incredible journey.”
