🎃 Halloween Tip #6: Keep Candy Out of Reach & Dogs Away from Front Doors!

Not sure how your dog will react to people in full fancy dress costumes? It’s best not to bring them to the door with you when handing out treats.

Also, remember that chocolate and many sweets (especially those containing Xylitol) are toxic to dogs! Always keep candy bowls high up and out of reach.

It’s our responsibility to manage the environment and keep our pets safe!

🎃 Halloween Tip #6: Create a Safe Haven This Halloween

With strange costumes, noises, and extra guests, Halloween can feel overwhelming for our four-legged family members.

Create a designated "Safe Space" for your dog to retreat to:
🛋️ Pick a quiet back bedroom or study away from the front door.
🔊 Turn on soft music, white noise, or a TV to drown out external sounds.
🧸 Include their favorite bed, blankets, and toys.

Giving them a peaceful place to escape the goings-on helps them feel secure all night long!

🎃 Halloween Tip #5: Keep your dog busy and calm while the Halloween fun happens outside!

Chewing naturally releases calming endorphins for dogs. Giving your pup a long-lasting chew or stuffed enrichment toy can help keep them distracted, occupied, and relaxed while trick-or-treaters are visiting your door.

Halloween Tip #4: To Dress Up or Not to Dress Up? 👻

While dog costumes can look adorable, many dogs lack confidence wearing clothes or find them uncomfortable and stressful. Just because your dog lets you dress them up doesn't mean they are comfortable or relaxed!

💡 Rule of thumb: If in doubt, leave the costume in the drawer! Prioritize your dog's comfort over the photo op.

Halloween Safety Tip #3: Halloween Walk - Timing is everything!

To keep your walk peaceful and safe, try ditching your usual evening walk or head out early before trick-or-treaters hit the streets.

⚠️ Morning After Caution: When walking your pup the morning after Halloween, stay extra alert! Keep an eye out for dropped candy, wrappers, and chocolate on sidewalks and lawns that could make your dog sick.
