I have a hard time accepting that a painting is finished if it’s not to the realism standards that I’ve set for myself. So saying I’m happy with this sketchbook feels good. Plus it’s a Friday, which is a good day of the week to finish projects. I feel like this took me a long time but I also realize it was only 13 painting days, but I guess that is a long time. (Not full days, sometimes only an hour each day) Any way, thanks for watching my videos. is where the last images are from- it’s a great place!

These two humpback whales came up in tandem and that was really neat to see. I’m not sure which individuals these were because we don’t identify humpbacks like we do orcas, but it was pretty wild to share a little space of wild ocean with these two for a short time.

I have about 5 extra male recessive slate heritage turkeys. I can start to part with them anytime, but the longer I keep them the more I’ll want in barter! I can also butcher and dress them- or you can take a couple now and finish them off on a diet of the finest… idk grapes and apples? Bartering is definitely a skill and it’s mostly forgotten in the US. Especially when you can just tap your watch to pay. But some things are more important than money, like conservation! These birds were born under their moms, free-ranged, and never put up in a coop. They ate all my grapes and huckleberries this year, but it’s ok because I enjoy them. And you probably will too! I’m in Monroe County, in Southern Indiana

I made our Maya's Legacy Whale Watching (Maya’s Legacy) tour stretch across 3 pages because I was being too conservative with my pages up until this point and I had an extra page so I went ahead and put this nice image of Sidney T123 flying. You can pause the video and see some nice facts about Sidney but there are even more interesting stories about her and also her mom if you look her up. I’ll be following the two matrilines that we saw on the internet for the rest of my life 🥹 I love that Sidney has her own hashtag

We drove up to Limekiln lighthouse on San Juan Island and practiced using our binoculars. It’s the best place in the world to see orcas from land! But, we didn’t have a lot of time to spend so we didn’t see any, which is ok. The next day we went out with Western Prince Whale Watching and that’s my little sketch of their boat there. It was a big deal. We saw our first orcas- ever- in our lives. Up until this point, orcas might as well have been dragons, you know? We’re unreasonably interested in orcas and this is what the whole trip was about. We saw the T100’s which are Bigg’s orcas and they gave us a nice backdrop with Mt. Baker in the background! Orcas are identified by their flukes and saddle patches mostly, but also by their eye patches and what individuals they’re with. We met Hutchins who I painted in the crease, which was difficult for me mentally to put such an important figure IN THE CREASE. But I’m trying to grow as an artist 🤷🏾‍♀️ And she was with two of her children, Laurel and Estrella ♥️ I could write an essay but I’ll spare you

The mornings are starting to get… not so hot. And I’ve been dreaming up a new series! I’m looking for 10 local homes (opening it up to local to me- Monroe/Owen county first) so I can take the source photos myself and get a feel for the spook potential. I have many ideas- vampire house, ghost, Frankenstein, werewolf, zombie, witches, graveyard, headless horseman, aliens, demons, monster house, pennywise, tremors, VanHelsing, slenderman, townspeople with pitchforks, axe murderer, cemetary, and of course bats, pumpkins, scarecrow, black cat, skeletons, etc. to avoid having 10 vampire houses, I’d prefer to give them all a different theme. This is my house and it’s Baba Yaga, for example. Send me a message to pick your theme and become a part of the series- turn your home into a comic-creepy scene! Or your business! I accept Venmo, Apple Pay, cashap, and google pay. $150 and I’ll give you a nice digital file too, in addition to the matted original, so you can print it on whatever you want!

This can’t sit unfinished! I’m going to get so much accomplished this week. Just watch me!

I was mentally preparing to pick up every stalk of sorghum because I can not handle another year of crop failure due to WIND! 😅 but luckily the feed corn took the wind. I think my issue is that we live on an old sand dune which of course means we have very nice sandy soil. Well, not so nice if you’re a tall crop will a bs root system. Nevertheless, we have prevailed- THIS TIME 😒
