🌟 A Message from Our Family 🌟

This isn’t a post I ever imagined having to write but my family could really use some support right now. Last night my uncle was involved in a serious hit and run motorcycle accident. His lower leg was completely shattered and he has road rash all over his body he is now facing a long road to recovery with extensive medical care and time away from work.

Poor little dude has been giving corporate groomers all over Louisiana a run for their money 🐾✂️. He’s been flagged at multiple PetSmarts for aggression and was labeled “too difficult” to groom.

We even had a rough start ourselves, he gave me a nip during check-in. But instead of giving up, I slowed things down, gave him space, and worked on earning his trust. With patience, the right environment, and a few comfort tricks, we were able to safely complete his groom.

Sometimes all it takes is the right approach and a little extra compassion 💕. Proud of this boy for trusting me today!

Happy birthday to the dog who picked us! 🎉 Rhea’s officially been ours for almost a year, but she’s been running our hearts (and stealing our snacks) for about four years. 🐾 Here’s to more zoomies, cuddles, and chaos! ❤️

One of the perks of owning my own business is that I set my prices and schedule. I’m already one of the more affordable options in the area, and I offer military and first responder discounts. I also work early and late hours to accommodate shift workers and teachers if I need to.

Your pup’s care is always my top priority. I keep a small budget available to help people in need. I may not be able to cover the full cost of the groom, but I will do my best to make it work. If your dog is on the verge of becoming matted, hair is unruly and you can’t afford grooming, please reach out to me, I will work with you.

I’m even open to trading services if that’s something you can do. I understand that expenses are high and how stressful it can be to worry about affording necessities. If I can help, I promise I will.

📣 Important Info About Matted Ears in long curly coated breeds 🐾

Lately, I’ve been seeing a big increase in severely matted doodles, especially around the ears. Some pet parents have said that a previous groomer “cut” the ears during shaving, so let’s clear up what really happens when ears are matted.

💡 Here’s the truth:

When mats are tight against the ears, they restrict blood flow. Once shaved, blood rushes back into the area, which can cause
A tingly uncomfortable feeling that makes dogs shake their heads

Hematomas, which are pockets of blood that form under the skin
In some cases, the hematoma can burst and ooze blood due to head shaking

🚫 So if you notice bleeding after a severely matted ear is shaved, it is not always the groomer’s fault. This is a common reaction to the circulation returning and the dog’s natural response to the strange sensation.

Also, if your dog’s ears need to be plucked, that too can cause temporary irritation and head shaking, which may make things worse if there are already sensitive spots or hematomas forming.

🧼 This is why we stress the importance of regular brushing AND combing, especially around the ears, under the collar, and in other tangle prone spots. Brushing alone won’t prevent matting that forms close to the skin.

I get asked all the time why I try my HARDEST not to use a muzzle during grooming.
It’s not because I don’t believe in safety. It’s because I believe in long-term trust, learning, and doing what’s best for the dog—not just for the moment, but for their future.

This has been a reoccurring question lately, and I’ve been working on thoughtful answers for a while now. I’ll be sharing them in the comments below. ⬇️💬
