August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month!

Last month, we saw Apollo, the two year old Australian Shepard, for itching. The poor guy was pretty uncomfortable, so he came to see us for an exam, and Dr. Ramsey prescribed some medication to help!

We are so excited to introduce our newest staff member, Dr. Ramsey!

Dr. Ramsey has always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian since she was young. She grew up with animals and loved caring for them. The older she got, the more her passion grew, so she attended and then graduated from University of Wisconsin Madison in May of 2025!

One of the coolest animals that Dr. Ramsey has treated was a turtle during an emergency shift. He was only a few months old!

Dr. Ramsey has a cat named Echo. He's about four years old, and she adopted him at only one week old!

Today is National Pet Choking Prevention Day!

Pet choking is a terrifying occurrence, so it's important to know what you can do to prevent it from happening! It's important to pick appropriate sized toys for your pet, as both smaller and larger toys can create a choking hazard. Choose a toy large enough so that it can't fit completely inside of your pet's mouth, but not so large that it could block your pet's airway.

It's also a good idea to be aware of choking hazards around the home. If you have a baby or toddler, ensure their toys are out of your pet's reach, as well as any plastic, food packaging, or hair ties.

If you suspect your pet is choking, please call a veterinarian's office right away!
