Just a heads up for everyone, especially those that chose to go to the University of Minnesota for after hours care. Hopefully this will be temporary!

🚨Urgent Update: Temporary Reduction in Overnight Emergency Hours at UMN VMC 🚨 Like many hospitals facing the current national challenges in veterinary recruitment, the Lewis Small Animal Hospital at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) is experiencing a temporary shortage of overnight third-shift technicians. To maintain our high standards of patient care during peak utilization hours, we are implementing a temporary adjustment to our schedule.

🗓️ Starting Monday, June 29, VMC Emergency Room receiving will be CLOSED from midnight to 8 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Our emergency services remain OPEN 24 hours a day from Sunday through Tuesday.

For the Fourth of July holiday weekend we will be closed starting at 4pm Thursday July 2nd and reopen on Monday July 6th at 9am. If you cat needs medical attention while the clinic is closed, we recommend calling Blue Pearl Veterinary in Golden Valley at 952-942-8272, Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital in Arden Hills at763-754-5000, the University of Minnesota Veterinary Hospital at 612-626-8387 or AERC in Oakdale at 651-501-3766.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone from all of us at City Cat Clinic.

As we celebrate Memorial Day and remember and honor those who passed in serving our country, we like to also honor the cats that were part of helping soldiers as well. Reportedly, in the middle of the Korean War, this kitten found herself an orphan. Luckily, she found her way into the hands of a kind marine. He adopted the two-week-old kitten and gave her the name “Miss Hap” because, he explained, “she was born at the wrong place at the wrong time”. Cats bring out the humanity in us don't they?

Most of you remember Kelly, our previous practice manager of 23+ years. It's time for her second annual fundraiser, Kelly's Hope: Strike Out Cancer to be held at the Park Tavern on Sunday April 26th at the Park Tavern in St Louis Park from 10-2. Tickets are on sale and we are still looking for contributions to our silent auction if you have a hidden talent or a connection! Our silent auction opens tomorrow! Please consider purchasing a ticket...we'd love to see you there! If you can't attend, you can still donate, bid or purchase tickets to win an amazing Louis Vuitton purse! All proceeds go to the "Un-til It's cured Initiative" at the University of Minnesota's Center for Genome Engineering. Their amazing research, with the goal to treat all metastatic cancers, already has had favorable results. And unfortunately all of us have been affected by cancer!

If you were lucky enough to get flowers for Valentine's Day don't forget to pull out the lilies and throw them away. If your cat ingests even a very small amount (like licking the pollen off their coat) it can be enough to cause severe kidney disease.

Don't forget to watch the Great American Rescue Bowl (previously the kitten bowl) today starting at 2pm on Fubo or the Great American Family Channel. It's worth it, if even for the names!! I'm rooting for Pouncy Pants!!
