Absolutely love seeing some wild coveys while conducting our burns this spring. It’s been awesome to see first hand how wild quail react directly to fire.

They’re extremely nonchalant, and we have seen at least 5 coveys walking within feet of the flames. Many times you can see them walking in a line across the fire breaks as the flames come their way.

We will be prescribed burning again tonight at 6pm at Backcountry Shooting Preserve in Glasgow.

Our team will be joined again by our friends from the East Barren Volunteer Fire Department. They have enjoyed taking part and learning about prescribed fires and their benefits! Glad to have them helping us.

Like last night, we are predicting perfect conditions and a great burn that will jumpstart our growing season!

Proud to see Bryant’s Silver Surfer place 2nd in the horseback quail futurity yesterday. One of the top achievements for a young horseback trial dog. This is his second placing in a futurity this year!

Jay was developed and broke here at Backcountry Shooting Preserve and sold to new owner, Mark Janiec & handler, Mike Tracy to run in his field trial career.

It’s been a pleasuring watching Jay go on to do big things on the pro circuit!

Congrats to team Silver Surfer and everyone that placed in the trial!
