Mom and I want to sincerely thank each of you for all the prayers and love. She has shown improvement. Her strength is slowly getting better despite some hurdles. Late Friday the CT showed multiple pulmonary embolisms ( blood clots) despite being on blood thinners in mainly the right lung and the effusions(fluid pockets)were smaller but still there despite being on strong diuretics and chest tubes.
They removed the last chest tubes for comfort since not helping any. She remains on even stronger blood thinners with iron infusions for anemia. It has been 4 days since needing a blood transfusion so that is progress. They will do a non invasive procedure tomorrow (tues) to place a filter in the vena cava artery to stop further blood clots to her lungs. It’s not permanent but hopefully will let her start to actually recover. Her body is trying very hard.
She is able to communicate a little but is having speech difficulty. This could be from paralysis of left vocal cord that not sure will get any better even with therapy. She says she doesn’t feel horrible just still very tired a lot just blah. We take everyday as a win even with the small bumps in the road. ❤️

Happy Derby day to KY. I made a promise to myself at40 to take the trip. Do some me time for my birthday. This year looks a lot different ! But I am where I need to be and beyond thankful I can be here. I mean I am in Nashville for my birthday right?
Mom is fighting so hard to get better. Her heart has finally tried to stay in normal rhythm last night for the first time. Progress! ( she is in external pacemaker just in case)However with the good there are always bad. She has multiple fluid pockets around lining of the lungs making it impossible to get good breaths. Without good breathing your oxygen isn’t what it need to be to sustain your body. Even with heavy blood thinners she has developed multiple blood clots in her lungs. Her blood count keeps dropping And is needing blood transfusions every other day. ( that’s a later investigation)She has so many teams working together for her. And she knows everyone’s support and love❤️For the bottom of our heath thank you to each customer and friend that loves her and is praying.

We know all of our customers, and their fur babies are missing her lately, but we also know being with Carol during this time is exactly where she needs to be!🫶🏻🥳🎂

Thursday4/30 update:
I’m sorry I didn’t get to this last night. Carol is doing ok and resting comfortably right now. She had a not great day yesterday and it was a lot of ppl in and out and exhausting for us both. The things she is experiencing are downsides of this major surgery. However her body isn’t able to regulate her vitals just yet. She started Afib yesterday and is consistently going back and forth to normal sinus rhythm. When this happens it is a harsh drop in BP so they have her on an external pacemaker to help control faster and she doesn’t pass out each time. She is just flat exhausted after just drinking something or a few bites of food. She has graduated to 2 out of 3 chest tubes and the oxygen has been lowered.
One day at a time. I am so proud of her for trying so hard! We are both learning just how strong we really are.
We are so lucky to have all the support, love and prayers from everyone ❤️
