‼️‼️ Urgent – Foster or Rescue Needed for Black Betty! ‼️‼️
Black Betty is in danger as the longest resident because the shelter is full. She urgently needs a rescue commitment or a foster through Backwoods Barkers Rescue.
This beautiful girl is only 1½ years old, weighs 40 pounds, and is dog-friendly. I've posted her many times with no results, but time is running out.
Black Betty deserves the chance to know what it's like to be loved, safe, and part of a family. She has so much life ahead of her and is waiting for someone to give her that opportunity.
Please help us change her story. If you can foster, rescue, or share her post, you could be the reason Black Betty gets her happy ending. ❤️

Kiki update 💔🐾

With the vet’s approval, we brought Kiki home so she could receive 24-hour monitoring, medications, and constant care in a loving home instead of a hospital kennel.

And this sweet baby is fighting so hard to stay alive.

She has shown small improvements, and we are holding onto every single one of them. With medicated baths, nourishment, rest, and love, she is beginning to look a little better… but she still has a very long road ahead.

When you touch Kiki, all you feel are bones.
Her ribs protrude. Her hips jut out sharply. Her tiny body is so frail from starvation and neglect that it breaks your heart to look at her.

And the hardest part to comprehend…
Her p**p contained rocks.

Rocks.

This poor soul was so hungry she was trying to survive by eating whatever she could find after being thrown from a vehicle and left alone to suffer. No dog should ever know that kind of pain, fear, or abandonment.

Yet somehow… she still wants love.

Despite everything humans did to her, Kiki still looks at us with hope in her eyes. She still leans in for comfort. She still fights.

As long as she continues improving, we will keep her in a home environment where she can heal surrounded by love and where she is safer from deadly viruses like Parvo that can spread in hospital settings. This also helps reduce the overwhelming hospitalization costs while still giving her the intensive care she desperately needs.

We are doing everything we can to save her.

Meet Kiki. She was dumped in the middle of nowhere in Henderson and left to die. Actually, let me correct that — she was thrown from a moving car.
She is currently fighting for her life at Healthy Paws. When we first got her, she seemed fairly okay… then suddenly collapsed with symptoms that looked like parvo. Thankfully, it is not parvo, but she is absolutely loaded with parasites and in horrific condition. Buzzards were already circling her when Nancy went and found her. If Nancy hadn’t went to look for her, Kiki would not have survived another day.
The impact from being thrown from the car badly damaged her mouth and teeth. She is only 12 weeks old, and her baby teeth are severely messed up. She will most likely need dental surgery when she is older. Right now, the priority is keeping her alive and stable. The moment she realized she was safe, she collapsed in the car and we knew just how critical her condition really was.
Hospitalizing a puppy over Memorial Day weekend is going to be incredibly expensive, but Kiki is a fighter — and so are we. Any donations to help with her emergency care are deeply appreciated.

While we are not a puppy rescue, somehow puppy season found us anyway. 🐾

Right now, we currently have TWO litters of puppies in our care, along with one of their mamas, and the amount of food, puppy pads, cleaning supplies, dewormer, and daily care they require adds up incredibly fast.

We have a Petunia update!! Look at that tail wagging!! ❤️🐾
She still looks rough, but she is doing so much better already. Petunia wants to thank everyone who has been rooting for her, donating, sharing her story, and following her journey.
Every soft bed, every kind word, every prayer, and every bit of support is helping this sweet girl heal. She finally knows she is safe and loved. 💕

Brandy is the longest resident at Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center and so deserving of her chance. We would also like to thank Longview PAWS for covering her heartworm treatment. We are so very thankful!!

El Chapo Pacoberto (thanks, Vanessa!) came to us from Kilgore Animal Control.

Lucario was trapped by our team and also came from Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center.

Supernova now Hobbs was saved by Kilgore Animal Control then taken to the Longview Animal Care and Adoptions for medical evaluations. He has two broken back legs.

I want to take a minute to recognize and brag on the City of Longview and their Animal Control team.
When Longview passed the spay/neuter and microchip laws, a lot of people questioned how they would ever be enforced. Yesterday, we saw exactly how—and why—they matter.
We received a call about a puppy stuck in a gutter. After getting that baby to safety, we looked around and found more puppies and their mom nearby. We were able to trap the entire family. When we scanned mom, she had a microchip.
That microchip led us back to an owner who had already received multiple violations that Longview Animal Control had been actively following up on. Because of those efforts, we now know exactly where this dog came from.
Yes, the unfortunate reality is that this family was likely dumped. But here’s the bigger picture—the system worked. The laws worked. The follow-up worked. And the microchip made all the difference.
This is what accountability looks like. This is what progress looks like.
I am incredibly proud to work alongside the Longview shelter, the City of Longview, and especially the animal control officers who show up every single day, doing a tough and often thankless job.
Your work matters. And it is making a difference. 🐾
