There are dogs sitting in shelters, on euthanasia lists, in overcrowded kennels, and in situations they never should have had to survive—waiting for someone to say:

“You matter. I’m not giving up on you.”

At Team Memphis Rescue & Support, we want to say YES to every dog we can.

But we can't do it alone.

We need fosters. 🏡

Because behind every rescue is a dog who needs somewhere safe to land.

A dog who needs to learn that a hand reaching toward them can mean love instead of fear.

A dog who needs to discover that food comes every day.

That the couch is theirs, too.

That someone will come back.

That life doesn't always have to be so damn hard.

Show them someone actually cares.
Show them they aren't disposable.
Show them what it feels like to be safe.
Show them that their life is worth fighting for.

You don't have to save every dog.

You just have to open your home to one.

One foster home can mean one more dog gets pulled to safety.

🐺 **Meet Wolf… better known around here as ED WOLFINGTON!** 😂👅

Why Ed Wolfington? If you remember Ed the hyena from *The Lion King*, you’ll understand immediately. 🤣 Wolf is one goofy dude, and his tongue is almost ALWAYS hanging out—sometimes straight down, sometimes off to the side—and we can’t help but think of Ed every time we look at him.

But behind that goofy face is a dog who has come an incredibly long way. ❤️

Wolf was saved from the euthanasia list at Memphis Animal Services after previously living with **26 other dogs in horrible conditions**. When he first came to us, he was absolutely terrified of the world around him.

Leashes were scary.
Collars were scary.
Getting into the car was so overwhelming that he had to be carried.
Every unexpected sound made him jump.

He simply didn't know that the world could be a safe place.

Slowly, Wolf has been figuring that out. 🥹

Today, we're watching a much more confident, playful boy emerge. He LOVES running around the yard, playing with other dogs, tossing around his toys and just being a giant goofball. He is incredibly sweet and truly just wants to be loved.

As his confidence has grown, we've also learned more about what Wolf needs in a home. He enjoys other dogs and loves to play, but he doesn't do well with male dogs who expect him to be submissive. A proper introduction and a compatible canine friend will be important for him.

🐱 **Cats?** He's been okay with our cat for the most part! He can be a *little* extra curious and occasionally thinks that when she makes noises at him, she's inviting him to play.

Hint: **She is absolutely NOT inviting him to play.** 😂

Wolf also does great in his crate overnight and while we're away from home. And then there's his mischievous side…

If you're missing a piece of clothing, check with Wolf.

Cardboard? Wolf.

One of the kids' stuffed animals? Probably Wolf.

Food left within reach? Definitely Wolf.

Something that even remotely *smells* like food? You better believe Wolf is investigating. 😂

Wolf is still working through anxiety from everything he experienced before being rescued, and because of that, it can sometimes be difficult for him to settle into one place. He needs someone willing to give him patience, consistency and the time he needs to truly understand that he's HOME.

He's already overcome so much. ❤️

Underneath the anxiety is this hilarious, playful, affectionate boy who is learning more every day about how good life can be.

Ed Wolfington survived a life no dog should have experienced. Now we'd love nothing more than to see him find the person who looks at that ridiculous sideways tongue and says…

**"Yep. That's my dog."** 🐺👅❤️

🐾 Fosters Needed in Pittsburgh, St. Mary's, and Everywhere in Between! 🐾
We already have incredible fosters in and around Pittsburgh and St. Mary's, but we would love to find more fosters right in our own hometowns—and everywhere in between! Fostering doesn't mean you're on an island. We can work together as a community, supporting and helping one another as we save these precious dogs who need us.

Team Memphis Rescue and Support pulls dogs from high-kill shelters where their time is desperately running out. But we can only save as many dogs as we have foster homes for. Right now, our ability to rescue is limited by the number of open hearts and homes in our network.

UPDATE: Rey, Rio, Hector, Avi, Eden, and Victoria have all been adopted. Please help us find fosters or adopters for the remaining dogs. These dogs have been in boarding for too long; they need a home. Foster, Foster-to-adopt, or adopt. SHARE SHARE SHARE

‼️‼️🚨 WE ARE IN CRISIS 🚨‼️‼️

We seriously cannot continue operating if dogs keep ending up in boarding.

TMRS is a COMPLETELY foster-based rescue. Without foster homes, dogs have nowhere to go. When fosters don’t step up, dogs end up sitting in boarding facilities — and the cost is crushing us.

The average TMRS dog stays in foster care around 113 days so far in 2026. Last year’s average was 185 days. Some dogs find homes quickly, while others take much longer. But when you foster until adoption, you are directly saving lives and helping us keep rescue possible.

Every dollar spent on boarding is money taken away from:
• Medical care
• Emergency vet bills
• Food
• Prevention
• Saving the next dog in need

A few days ago, we had to post a special fundraiser JUST to cover boarding costs. That alone was heartbreaking. We only raised a few hundred dollars — and we are incredibly grateful for every donation — but ONE dog in boarding costs over $600 PER MONTH and right now we have EIGHT DOGS IN BOARDING!!!!

We are exhausted.
We are overwhelmed.
And our hearts break every single day.

We get messages constantly about dogs needing help. Dogs abandoned. Dogs neglected. Dogs on euthanasia lists at MAS. And lately, far too often, we have had to say no because we have nowhere for them to go.

Please understand how serious this is:
WITHOUT FOSTERS, WE CANNOT SAVE DOGS.
