Meet Zippy⚡

I'm sure you can guess where she got her name. If you don't watch closely, she zooms into thin air right before your eyes! In her kennel she acts very reserved but outside, she's a whole different girl💗

Zippy comes to us as a stray like many do and sadly, we haven't been contacted by any families that might be missing her😔 Zippy is currently being treated for an ear infection. She hasn't been the most tolerant patient for medical handling which one can easily understand of an animal in pain/discomfort. Without knowing her history, we also don't know how many experiences she's had (if any) with veterinary offices. We are hoping a rescue organization that has access to behavioral support can help Zippy so future visits can be more positive for all involved.

◼️INFO: Animal ID #: 61916321, 3 year old Terrier mix, unaltered female, 45lbs, HW negative, dog assessment - defensive and insecure around other dogs, finds corner of yard to avoid interaction and shows teeth when approached.

This boy comes to us as a stray, non-weight bearing on the left hind limb with noted muscle atrophy. Radiographs confirmed a complete fracture of the femur with callus formation, unfortunately an older injury he has been forced to endure. Due to the callus formation, it is likely he will not be a candidate for pin and will need amputation.

He is estimated to be just a year old, in such a short time he’s faced such hardships💔 He does appear to be in good spirits, we are getting tons of tail wags🐾 Please see comment section below for a dog greet video done through a barrier due to his injury. He is very loose and interested🥹

We hope this boy who has been so badly failed will have a bright future ahead with your help💙

◼️INFO: Animal ID #: 61988743, 1 year old Terrier mix, 39lbs, unaltered male, HW negative.

Sadly, Benson is not a new face to us🥺 He was adopted two years ago but was recently surrendered back to us and it appears he had changed homes a handful of times. Benson returns to us with what appears to be chronic untreated ear infections, arthritis, and heartworm disease💔

Our hope is always that our adoptions are ending in forever homes but that isn't always the case, and often time it's to no fault of the animal. Benson has been through a lot of change and hasn't always gotten the veterinary care and support he needs. We are hoping to connect with a rescue organization to ensure Benson isn't failed again😔 Benson is still settling in so you can expect more photos & videos soon!

◼️INFO: Animal ID #: 56293305, 7 year old mixed breed, neutered male, 64lbs, HWP *started doxycycline*, dog selective - is defensive when dogs approach persistently, corrections are fair and appropriate, prefers other aloof dogs.

Whether she's outside or in her kennel, she's somehow always resembling Timon from the Lion King🦁

Just like the tiny mongoose, she seems to constantly be looking out for potential danger, and perhaps that is how she's always had to live life😔 Meerkat is just an 8 month old puppy but she lacks exuberance of the ones we typically see. She shy's away to the back of her kennel when staff walk by. And when other dogs play, she is a wallflower in the yard, watching closely but unsure how to join in.

Meerkat would greatly benefit from some additional socialization and some confidence building so she can learn to be a dog🐾 It's clear life hasn't always been kind to her as a stray and she will need some true decompression in a home outside of the shelter environment.

◼️INFO: Animal ID #: 61902956, 8 month old mixed breed, unaltered female, 21lbs, HW negative, aloof with other dogs - joins gentle/dainty playgroups. See video in comment section below⬇️

Kyla Animal ID #: 61982596 enters our care as an owner surrender in very poor condition. She is emaciated and severely anemic, potentially requiring a blood transfusion. This is far beyond the scope of care we can provide as a municipal shelter. Our goal is to help her get this care through a rescue organization as soon as possible. If you can help us with this, please contact the shelter.

▪️INFO: 6 year old German Shepherd, unaltered female, 54lbs, HWP. Very tolerant for at intake for vaccines, nail trim, and blood draw. For full medical records, please email [email protected].

The leaves are changing and Cassie hopes that means change is coming for her too!🍂

Cassie comes to us as a stray with a microchip, we were hopeful we would be able to reunite her with her family. But unfortunately, we were told that Cassie had been rehomed some years ago and the microchip information was never updated😔

Cassie is an incredibly sweet girl with a nub tail that seems to wag her whole body💗 She is very calm, well behaved, and was very tolerant for her examination with our Veterinary team rolling on her back for belly rubs. She has also joined dog playgroups and appropriately greets others (although she is lower energy and not interested in any kind of rough play) she seems happiest to just hang out with others🐾

Cassie sounds like the perfect couch potato companion so you're likely wondering why she needs rescue placement right? Cassie sadly has some medical concerns that will require long-term care. She has an ear infection, what appears to be some chronic skin issues, a raised mass on her back, arthritis, and she tested positive for HW disease. We are hoping this girl reaches the right phone or computer screen to get the help she deserves🤞

◼️INFO: Animal ID #: 61920375, 8 year old Rottweiler mix, spayed female, 88lbs, HWP *started doxycycline*, joins gentle/dainty playgroups.

Lucky comes to us as an owner surrender and her name is quite an oxymoron, she hasn't been able to catch a break💔

Upon examination our Veterinarian noted bilateral enlarged submandibular lymph nodes and so we started a course of antibiotics. After re-checking a week later, they still appeared enlarged.

We sent Lucky to Gaston College Veterinary Medical Technology in hopes to gather some more information but Lucky was not very tolerant to handling and had bitten during her visit. That's when we knew Lucky must be experiencing levels of discomfort because otherwise she's been a very sweet, social, and playful teenager🥺

We performed radiographs and found an enlarged cardiac silhouette and intestinal contents over the cardiac silhouette- suggesting a possible diaphragmatic hernia. She also tested positive for FELV. It is very likely Lucky will need a consult with a specialist for recommended treatment. This girl is just 7 months old and we hope she will have a long life ahead of her with help from a rescue organization🤞

◼️INFO: Animal ID #: 61830545, 7 month old DMH, spayed female, 4.7lbs, FELV+. For full medical record, please email [email protected].
