"After 3 years of working here I finally adopted a cat from HSC! ..I told my husband and when he kept asking for pictures and updates about Pink, I could tell he wanted him. Now we have officially adopted this sweet boy, and we adore him. He was stressed in the shelter but immediately warmed up to us once he got home! ..He is very vocal and chirps/meows at us every time he sees us and loves to get pets.

As requested, his favorite Pink Floyd song is Sheep. (We actually played him a bunch of songs and he seemed to like this one the best lol)"

Five months of waiting. One loving home. And a holiday season that will look very different for Stewie. 💙

Stewie spent five months at HSC waiting for a family of his own. Shelter life was tough for this sensitive boy, but with support from our team and our community, he got the care, enrichment, and foster break he needed to shine.

It's raining sweetness at HSC! ☔ Meet Droplet, Sprinkle, Drip, Drizzle, Mist, and Splash! 💦 These six sweet souls have names inspired by rainy days, but they're ready to bring a little sunshine into someone's life. ☀️

After coming to us from an overcrowding situation, these cuties are still learning that the world can be a safe, loving place. They'll need patient, understanding adopters who can give them the time, space, and encouragement they need to blossom.

Today we're showing some love for HSC volunteer, Erin Yager! 💙

1. How long have you been an HSC volunteer and what made you choose our organization?
I've been volunteering with HSC since the beginning of August! I've always wanted a dog, but having one of my own isn't an option right now. I also absolutely love kittens, but I'm not ready for that level of chaos in my house! When I found myself with some extra free time, volunteering seemed like the perfect solution.

2. Do you have a memorable volunteer moment?
There are already so many! Recently, I walked a small dog (Drizzle!) who was scared of absolutely everything. During our walk, we stopped to watch the tiniest baby snake I'd ever seen. Apparently, taking the attention off him for a few minutes was exactly what he needed! He started relaxing, exploring, and was much calmer. It was really sweet to see him get a little more comfortable and confident.

3. Do you have advice for new volunteers?
Try out a few different departments if you can! When I started, I thought I mostly wanted to help with dog walking, but it turns out my favorite thing to do is help with surgeries in Clinic Services. You never know what might catch your interest. And fair warning, you're probably going to fall in love with every animal you meet!

"I just wanted to give you an update on Tegu, who now goes by Lincoln or Link (like Zelda for his cute elf ears lol). Funny thing is that I really do call him my 'special boy' because he truly did not know how to be a dog when I adopted him at an estimated 2.5 years old.

I wish I knew more about his past, but present day Link is a happy, sassy, playful little guy who LOVES his mama and requests many pets by pawing you… until he’s had enough and will retreat to perch on top of the couch like a cat 😂 I impulsively rescued him after my 6 year relationship had ended and he changed my whole life. He was definitely a challenge, he didn’t know how to play with toys and really didn’t trust humans but always loved other dogs.

5 years later, he has come so far. I know I rescued him, but he really rescued me during a dark time ♥️ ..Thank you so much for trusting me with my little Link!!
.Riley, Lincoln, and I are now happily living in our new home in Florida with a fenced in yard!! Happy Tails!"
