Today we're showing some love for HSC volunteer, Karin Koenig! 💙

Our staff shared, "Karin started with us as a foster, but briefly had to go on foster hiatus.. During the 6 months that she couldn’t foster, she still wanted to help so she became a volunteer onsite and has become a staple in the laundry room on Mondays and Fridays. She also makes a point to regularly donate much-needed supplies when she notices we are low on something and hand makes cat toys and tie-blankets regularly for us!"

1. How long have you been an HSC volunteer and what made you choose our organization?
I started in January 2026.

2. What is the something you wish the general public knew about HSC?
How many different services & programs they offer.

3. Do you have a memorable volunteer moment?
Coming in on a Monday at 8 am and there wasn't a mound of laundry waiting to be washed. 🤣

4. Do you have advice for new volunteers?
Don't be afraid to ask questions and try different volunteering needs/options.

Pets have a pretty simple philosophy: they love us exactly as we are. 💙🐾

This Pride Month, we're continuing to take a cue from our furry friends by leading with acceptance and unconditional love.

At the Humane Society of Charlotte, we believe everyone deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and celebrated for who they are. This month and every month, we're proud to support the LGBTQ+ community and continue building a more compassionate world for people and pets alike. 🌈

A heartfelt thank you to Hannah Shaw, better known as Kitten Lady, for sharing her time, knowledge, and passion with our community. 💙

From presenting to our staff and partner shelters to hosting a special event for cat lovers across Charlotte, Hannah shared education, encouragement, and inspiration. Her work has changed the lives of countless kittens, cats, and caregivers, and we were so grateful to learn from her firsthand. 🐱

Thank you, Hannah, for helping us continue to grow, advocate, and provide the very best care for the tiniest and most vulnerable lives. Charlotte’s cat community is better because of you. 🐾

"Wanted to share a couple pics of 'Ladybug.' I adopted her last month and she has quickly become an integral part of the family. Her name is Juniper Wren aka Little Bear and she loves her new sister Echo."

"Boggle is doing well, and is very popular with her mom and dad's friends and family! She is enjoying car rides, her new vet team, going out to eat with mom and dad, and going to the park! Her new name is LuLu, which she is already learning. She also enjoys playing with her sqeaky toys when dad is on calls for work! She is even respecting her big sister's boundaries (our cat). She has added so much love and joy to her new mom and dads life."

After five months at the Humane Society of Charlotte, Stewie finally found his pack. 🥹

He was adopted over the weekend and is loving life with his new brother, who was previously adopted from HSC.

To all of Stewie's fosters and supporters, thank you. Happy endings like this are possible because of your support.

Stewie's dad shared, "Stewie is doing absolutely fantastic. Really coming into his own really quickly. He’s gaining confidence, understanding boundaries and listening better everyday. The boy is really smart."

Please help us congratulate our Employee of the Month, Kim Almond, our wonderful Executive Assistant, who wanted to give up her spot on social media to adoptable Twyla. 🥰

Below is just one of the nominations that Kim received:
“Kim is such a delight to work with. She is willing to help anyone no matter the task and far beyond what is required. Last month I saw her completely clean the kitchen and reorganize the closet in Ops. She is always asking how she can help and if we need anything before running errands. She is also so incredibly funny, and I am so happy to get to work with her every day, she truly makes my life easier and I can’t thank her enough for the support she has given.”
