Just had a gentleman from a school in Huntsville (ASCTE) who said they had a geo(?) balloon go down here in this area. If anyone sees an orange parachute with a white styrofoam cooler attached, please let me know and I'll put you in touch with him. It will have a GoPro camera and some other equipment that belongs to the school inside. The tracker show this approximate location but not exact.

We made it through Spring Break and it was great! We had a great group and everybody had a lot of fun!

We're booking daily for April, May, and summer vacations so if you are planning a trip or have weekend sporting events or other activities planned and you need to leave your fur babies with us, go ahead and book now! If March was any indication - this year is going to be wild!!!! Text 256-878-7297 to get on the calendar.

Also, I'd say 90% of the ones that stayed asked to be groomed and/or bathed before they went home, so PLEASE let me know that when you book so I can plan ahead. I have to work that into the regular grooming schedule. It isn't a problem as long as I know ahead of time so I don't bite off more than I can chew.

I'm getting a lot of last minute requests for grooming appointments so if you are a CURRENT client and need to get on the books, shoot me a text at 256-878-7297 and I'll get you worked in as soon as I can. I will book my current clients before I take on any new clients but will be glad to add new client requests to a wait/cancelation list.

It's been MONTHS since we've had time to post pics and it may be months before we can do it again lol, but this has been a great weekend and the gang's all here, so wanted to share some of the fun we've been having with all of you!

Dutch, Rue, Reese, Millie, Louie, Cash, Tilly, Maggie, Marlee, Hunni, Teddie Belle, Lexxy, Lola, Roxie H. Roxxy B, Bodhi, Sugar, Freckles, Ivy, Daisy, Whisky, Chunk, Digger, and Hershey are all running around around wild as bucks and we're keep up as best we can!

Gotta get busy now - peep the mudholes and you'll understand why! Lots of baths to be given!

**PLEASE SHARE**

Like most of you probably, we're praying for the best this weekend but also preparing for the worst!

It's no secret that we like dogs more than most humans (no offense pet owners 🀣), so just a few tips that you may or may not have thought of as you get ready for a wild weather weekend.

1. Create an emergency kit for yourselves as well as your pets. Include food, water, your pet's medications, vet records, etc. Have enough supplies for 3 days (in theory).

2. Have a current picture of your pet in the off chance the worst case scenario happens and your pet gets separated from you in a severe weather event. This will help you if you need to post pictures to help in locating your pet after the storm is over. (TIP - email the pics to yourself in case you lose your phone or it gets damaged). Also make sure your pet has on an ID tag that includes your contact information. And if you find someone else's pet, be responsible and help get him or her back to their people!

3. If you have medication for your pet for weather anxiety, give it to them. This weekend probably isn't the time to save it for later if the forecast is anywhere close to being correct.

4. After the storms have passed, check for hazards such as broken glass, sharp debris, or any other objects that nosy little fur creatures don't realize can cause them harm.

Again, we're preparing today for the worst. If your pet is here this weekend with us, wherever we are, that's where they will be. We'll do our best to keep you updated but the first priority is keeping ourselves and the pets safe.

If anyone finds any pets that have been displaced after this weekend, please reach out to us at 256-878-7297 and we'll try and help reunite everyone with their families. We can share pics or it may even be someone we're familiar with.

We've been working this week on adding a FOURTH play area to better accommodate all our guests for the upcoming "staycations" here at J and S!

We can tell Spring Break/spring/summer vacays are being planned as we are quickly becoming booked! If you are planning a trip and need your pet to stay here with us, don't wait until the last minute - book now!!!!

Grooms and boards are ramping up like they always do this time of year so responses will also be delayed, and texting is the best way to get in touch. 256-878-7297 is the number to reach us and we will respond just as soon as we can, usually within 24 hours if not sooner. If you're booked to board during March and would like either a groom or even just a bath on your pick up day, shoot me a text (texting is much easier bc I can't answer the phone 99% of the time when I'm grooming and dogs are barking lol) at 256-878-7297 and let me know so I can go ahead and get that scheduled. I apologize to the handful of people who have gotten the automated response (again) about the shop being closed for the 2024 holiday. I have sent in a ticket to tech support because it's on their end and I don't know why it happened again. The software is great but it still has glitches. Hopefully since it's just a text it isn't a terrible inconvenience.

The power went off again and the internet was out yesterday for awhile so that may have had something to do with it when everything re-booted. I really don't know but hopefully they can get it sorted out.

If Spring Break is the last week of March - boarding is filling up quickly. We aren't taking as many this year as we did last year so if you think you want to book, let us know now. The rate is $30 per day per pet, 25% deposit and all pets have to be UTD on all vaccines including Bordetella (kennel cough). No exceptions.

Also unlike last year, we are planning on taking some time off this summer πŸ™ƒ and would like to do so during the least busy time, so if you have any vacations planned and know you'll need us to board your pets while you're away, please go ahead and give us a heads up so we can make our plans now also.

IF you are a current grooming client and haven't already booked your recurring appointments for this year, please do so as soon as possible. I have had some requests for new appointments and I hate to start booking those until I make sure all my current clients are taken care of.

The system updated last night and sent out a mass text about the shop being closed during the Christmas break. I don't know why.

Also, today's grooming appointments were canceled. I went to the ER. I do not have Covid or the flu but I do have a severe viral infection, so I'll get everyone rescheduled just as soon as I possibly can. Y'all will just have to be patient on that.

If you didn't pre-book an appointment at your last groom, I'll get you worked in when I can.

We don't know what next week's weather will bring, but we have re-scheduled the first of next week to alternate dates. At the very least we know it's supposed to be 1Β° and that's as cold as it's been in a long time.

To quote Jason Simpson, "It's dangerous, pipe-freezing, people-freezing, and pet-freezing cold. Even the toughest, meanest guard dogs that wouldn't sleep on a bed if you gave it to them could freeze to death in weather like this."

We have some boarders here, and thankfully we have natural gas in the shop so THEY WILL BE WARM. Probably won't be out playing outside the shop, but they will be warm.

**Long post alert**

We've gotten quite a few new followers to our page so I wanted to take a minute to welcome everyone and also remind you all of a few of our policies, especially the ones I get the most questions on.

1. The boarding drop-off and pickup times are pinned at the top of the page. PLEASE be aware of those times when you book so you can plan to add an extra day to your stay if those times don't work for you. I've tried in the past to accommodate different schedules for people and it just doesn't work. I was constantly running back and forth and it creates complete chaos for the other boarders, so I have to stick to those times.

I spend a lot of time at the shop and your pets are playing and lounging the majority of their stay, but I don't live there lol. I appreciate you all understanding.

2. I don't give discounts for multiple pets. More pets = more work. There's more feedings, keeping more water bowls monitored, and we won't even talk about the additional amount of...poop. It's just part of it and I'm not complaining, but it's a fact.

3. I charge by the day, not the night. In the end I feel like it all averages out but I understand there are places that are cheaper and that's your choice. We aren't fancy but we do love on your fur babies an awful lot while they're here and will do our dead level best to keep them safe and happy.

4. If you want your dog groomed or bathed while they're here (before pickup), I'm glad to try and work that in but it isn't part of the boarding price and the more notice I have the better able I am to make that happen. Just let me know when you book if you want to add a service onto your stay.

5. Bookings require a 25% deposit. I'm not taking as many boards as I have previously so I have to w**d out no shows in order to know when I need to cut off. Also, if you book specific days and your plans change, I'm happy to meet you a day before or later whatever the case may be but I ask that you pay for the days you booked. Chances are I've turned someone else away based on what I planned on having so early pickups do cost me money. If I ever win the lottery, this will all change and become a real fun hobby, but for now it’s how I pay my bills! 😜

6. Lastly, the past few months I haven't posted many (or any) pictures or videos of our boarders. There are several reasons for that - a lot of people don't want their pets posted on social media for various reasons, people don't want to advertise that they're out of town, and I'm just not good at taking pictures. I’d rather spend time with your pets as opposed to stressing about capturing the perfect shot. $30/day is not a small amount to pay for your babies to stay and I realize that, but it's also not enough for me to hire a social media manager and I really don't want to have to raise prices just for a few pictures. I'm happy to respond to messages letting you know how your pet is doing while you're away, but I promise if anything happens you will be contacted directly and immediately. After all, the majority of you are boarding your pets for vacations or breaks, so enjoy it! No news really IS good news in this case!

At the very least we know it's going to be bitter cold so PLEASE be prepared to keep your pets warm!

I know not every dog stays inside, but please have shelter/heat lamps/blankets ready for your fur babies and keep a check on their water to make sure it doesn't stay frozen and they can access it.

We had a scare yesterday and wanted to make you all aware, because we always try to be totally transparent.

One of our frequent boarders appears to have escaped, although we have no idea how. There are no gaps in the fences, no signs of him having dug out, and the shop was still locked up tight. Thankfully his owners arrived at an odd time to pick up and saw him and everyone is OK!

This is a good time to remind everyone that we don't live at the shop or have anyone there 24/7. Someone is ALWAYS within 300 yards and we never leave the property without kenneling everyone, but after we learn the different personalities and learn who gets along with whom, we let them play. They love to be out lounging in one of the shops or playing and running in the fenced yards. However, even out and about, we still check in on them every 2 hours or so in addition to having cameras we can check remotely.

We're very grateful that this is the first time this has happened, especially with some of the larger and more rambunctious boarders we've had over the past year!

If you're boarding with us, or plan to board in the future, and you ONLY want your pet out when someone is physically there, that's fine but we just need to know that up front, but we really don't want to do that. It isn't much fun for your pets or us.

We appreciate the trust you put in us when you leave your pets here and we do everything we can to keep them as safe as possible. If you've been around, you know our personal babies are here as well so we feel it's as safe as we can make it outside of putting a dome over the outside (we aren't doing that lol)!

Anyway, just wanted you all to know - it happened. We'll always try to improve and think of ways to make things more secure and better for everyone, but for now all is well and everyone is safe and enjoying their day.

The Christmas rush is in FULL swing so let's all try to have a little grace the next few weeks...

I appreciate everyone being on time lately for their appointments, and also picking up fairly close to when I tell you your pet will be ready. With as many as I'm trying to do between now and Christmas, it's important to try and help out in that regard because I just don't have room to keep everyone here all day after they're done. Also - after they're groomed, you don't want them sitting in the crate longer than they have to and they can't go out and play or potty or they'll just get dirty all over again!!!!

Also, if you or whomever is dropping your pet off is sick or showing any signs of sickness, PLEASE request to re-schedule. I promise I'll bend over backwards to make that happen, but I can't afford to get sick this time of year.
