Veterinary Receptionist Week is here, and if you know, you know. 💙
This is the week where we get to pause (even if just for a moment between ringing phones) and recognize the people who quite literally hold the entire clinic together. Our receptionists are the first voice you hear, the first face you see, and often the steady calm in the middle of chaos.
They are masters of multitasking - answering phones, checking in appointments, triaging concerns, coordinating schedules, managing emotions (both human and animal), and somehow still remembering your pet’s name, your story, and that one time you called in a panic because your dog ate something questionable.
Some days, their job is just as hard - if not harder - than anyone else’s in the building. They carry the weight of worried pet parents, navigate tough conversations with grace, and keep everything moving forward, even when the day feels like it’s moving at lightning speed… in ten different directions all at once.
They are compassion, organization, patience, and resilience - all wrapped into one very busy (and very underappreciated) role.
And yes… they deserve a gold medal for answering the phone with a smile… while another line is ringing… while someone is standing at the desk… while a dog is barking… while a cat is plotting their escape from within their carrier.
This week, we get to spoil them a little extra, say thank you a little louder, and remind them just how essential they are - not just to our team, but to every patient and client who walks through our doors.
To our receptionists: Thank you for being the heartbeat of our hospital. Thank you for your patience, your kindness, your humor, and your strength. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week! We appreciate you so much more than words can say. 🐾💙

It's getting chilly! 🥶Cold weather can affect your pet's joints, skin, activity, and routines. Here are a few tips to prepare your pet for wintertime:
- Provide a warm and cozy space off of the floor and away from drafts
- Sweaters or jackets are great for short-haired, small or senior pets
- Limit your pet's time outside in the extreme cold
- Some pets' nutrition needs might change during the winter. Talk to your vet if you think this might be the case.

Have questions? We’re always here to help!

🩺🐾 Happy Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week! 🐾🩺

Let’s be honest - vet techs are the glue, the gears, and the caffeine holding this place together. They’re the ones who can draw blood from a wriggling chihuahua, comfort a nervous Great Dane, and still remember which patient needs meds at 2:00pm (while also finding where the doctor left their stethoscope… again).

They handle everything - from cleaning up “mystery fluids” (without flinching!) to performing anesthesia like pros, to somehow knowing every pet’s name and every client’s favorite treat for their dog. They juggle science, compassion, and chaos - all while running on iced coffee and pure determination.

Our Vet Techs are part phlebotomist, part radiology tech, part surgical nurse, part dental hygienist. They're part anesthetist, part lab scientist, part groomer, part grief counselor. They're part therapist (for both pets and people), part janitor, part detective, part magician. And somehow - they're part mind reader, part animal whisperer, and part miracle worker. And they do it all with heart, humor, and a smile - even on the messy days.

So this week, we’re celebrating our incredible tech team for everything they do - the seen, the unseen, the heroic, and the downright gross. You keep this hospital running, and we couldn’t do it without you!

Drop a 💚, a 🐾, or your favorite “tech moment” below to show some love to the superheroes behind the scrubs!

🐛💥 So… what’s that lump on your pet?
Before you panic, don’t worry - they’re not turning into a weird sci-fi creature. More likely, it could be a bot fly larva (Cuterebra) renting space under the skin. Gross? Absolutely. Common in our area? Surprisingly, yes.

The Basics 🐾
• Bot flies lay eggs near rabbit and rodent burrows.
• Pets sniffing around can pick them up.
• The larva then sneaks in through any opening and grows inside a lump called a warble (that weird swelling with a little breathing hole).

Why You Shouldn’t DIY 🙅‍♀️
• It might be tempting to squeeze it out (we get it, those videos are wild), but if the larva ruptures, it can trigger serious infection or inflammation. This is definitely a job for your veterinarian.

What We Do ✅
• Gently and safely remove the larva in one piece.
• Clean and treat the wound.
• Prescribe antibiotics (if needed).
• Send your pet home a little embarrassed but a lot healthier.

Prevention 🛑
• Keep pets out of rabbit/rodent burrows.
• Do a quick skin check after outdoor adventures.
• Call us if you see a suspicious lump.

👀 PS: If you’re brave, check the comments for removal videos. They’re equal parts “eww” and “oddly satisfying.” Viewer discretion is advised!
