Adams County Humane Society, despite our name, is a non-profit, privately run animal shelter. Financially, ACHS runs entirely on donations, adoptions, events and fundraisers. We help the people and animals in our community by taking in and caring for cats and dogs who are strays or owner surrenders. We are open 7 days a week and you are always welcome to come any day of the week from 10-3 to view animals for adoption.

A big THANK YOU to Edward Jones for sponsoring the concert at the bandshell, featuring Chris Kroeze and asking us to be part of this wonderful event! We have a friend of the shelter who is matching funds up to $2,000 this month, and we raised over $700 in the 3 hrs we were there!!! We promised we would do a live video showing who won the raffle basket, but Live wasn’t working today so we had to settle for a regular video! The roster is almost full! Only ONE team of 4 golfers remains for the Barkin’ for Birdies golf fundraiser happening on June 26, 2025 – don’t wait to snag your spot!

💵 $100 per golfer – includes 18 holes of golf, meal, prizes, and donation supporting a pawsome cause!

All proceeds benefit ACHS & South Wood County Humane Society – helping rescue and care for animals in need. 🐶🐱

There has been a lot of people interested in the black lab puppy once she becomes available for adoption! She is now ready to be adopted BUT don’t forget about all the other wonderful dogs we have at the shelter right now! In fact, we have 5 other puppies waiting to find their furever homes! Logan, Levi, Lily, and London are 4 months old and Luke is approx 5 months old.
We also have adult dogs in all age ranges and sizes! Check out our website to find your new best friend!

**Due to the amount of people interested in the black lab puppy, we will be taking applications in the order they were received. If the first application is a great fit, we will go with that person/family. We are sorry if our process causes people to be upset, but our goal is to get the animals adopted as soon as we can, as long we know they are going to a loving home. You might be wondering if Rosie was ever given an award for the cutest little underbite, and we have no doubt the answer is yes!! 🥇
This precious girl was brought in because her owner needed to go into a nursing home and unfortunately, there is no family in the area that could take her. Rosie is a sweet 8+ year old girl but she is very scared at the shelter. We can definitely tell it’s been her and her dad for quite some time.

Rosie is going to need a quiet home as the only pet or with a calm dog. We know that special home is out there for her🩷. We are taking applications for her but she will not be available to go home until after her vet visit. Click on the link below to apply for this precious Pug mix.

Thank you to Wisconsin 106 for featuring Whisker Wednesday every week and thank you to Critters Pet Shop in Necedah for sponsoring the segment. Please check out Wisconsin 106 every Wednesday afternoon to hear about an adoptable pet here at ACHS!

This week, they featured Zac!

Zac is a sweet senior dog, estimated to be about 7 years old, that we received as a stray near the end of May. He is a wire-haired terrier of some kind and will need regular grooming so his charming smile is always visible. He has some grays, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like to play! He also walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides.

Zac's adoption fee is only $150, which includes his neuter, microchip with registration, heartworm testing and prevention, deworming, flea and tick prevention, a health certificate, and all of his age-appropriate vaccinations. He has been dog-friendly in our care, so we recommend adopting him with a buddy to get a $100 discount on the second adoption fee!
