Chess Day 10 — Taking Heel on the Road 🐾

We started with some shorter heel work at home, then took Chess out to the park to stretch those reps out and keep working on her position and connection while moving.

Zeus Day 5 — Building Place & Attention 🐾

Today we continued building Zeus’s Place, adding more distance and duration while he learns that his job stays the same even when Bri moves farther away.

We finished with some quieter engagement work, rewarding Zeus for bringing his attention back and checking in with his handler.

A little more responsibility, one step at a time.

Karma Day 11 — Training at the Park 🐾

Karma had a little bit of everything in this session! We worked around Nazboo as another dog distraction, used some of the park equipment to change things up, and mixed in more impulse control and training around his toy.

Then we finished things off with some heel work as we headed down the path.

Different environment, different distractions, and another chance for Karma to put everything he’s been learning together.

Zeus Day 4 — Introducing Place 🐾

Today Zeus started learning Place! We’re keeping the early reps simple—helping him understand where we want him, staying there while Bri moves around, and beginning to build a little duration before he’s released.

Just another foundation we’ll continue building on throughout his 3-week Board & Train.

Chess Day 9 — Learning to Watch Without Reacting 🐾

Today we worked with Chess at a comfortable distance from people and other dogs, giving her the opportunity to notice what’s happening around her without becoming overly excited or reacting.

She doesn’t need to greet everyone or get involved in everything she sees. Sometimes the goal is simply: notice it, stay calm, and move on.

Karma Day 10 — Calm Around Real-Life Distractions 🐾

Today Karma worked at Home Depot with Nazboo along as another distraction.

We practiced heel around him, then moved inside for down duration while people, carts, store noise, and movement happened around Karma. We even added a few distractions ourselves by moving and handling items nearby while he stayed put.

The goal is simple: the environment can stay busy without Karma needing to join in on everything happening around him.

Zeus Day 3 — Building Communication & Recall 🐾

Today we started putting a little more training into the mix with Zeus. We worked on giving to leash pressure and staying connected up close, then started adding some distance and calling him back across the yard.

We’re still keeping things simple while he settles in, but beginning to build the communication we’ll use throughout the rest of his stay.

And of course, plenty of time to sniff, explore, and just be Zeus in between.

Chess Day 8 — More Real-World Practice 🐾

Chess headed to Home Depot for another public training session!

We started outside working around the carts and using one as another surface for her to get comfortable on, then moved inside for heel work, sits, and holding position while people and carts passed by.

Each trip out gives Chess more practice taking the skills she already knows and using them with a whole lot more happening around her.

Karma Day 9 — Staying Calm in Public 🐾

Back out in public with Karma today, working on holding a down around all kinds of distractions before moving through the store with some heel work.

From skeleton displays and people passing by to narrow appliance aisles, the goal is simple: stay connected, listen, and keep that calmer mindset even when there’s plenty going on around him.

Zeus Day 2 — Still Settling In 🐾

We’re still keeping things pretty low-key with Zeus while he gets more comfortable with us and his new surroundings.

Today included a little leash-pressure work, some calm handling, and even a good brushing session. Nothing too complicated yet — just continuing to build communication, comfort, and trust before we start asking more from him.

He’s got plenty of training ahead over the next three weeks. For now, we’re letting this big guy settle in at his own pace.
