I learned techniques which were less harsh to keep them from jumping up, to come when called, not pulling on a leash, and started setting the stage for continued learning. The ground work which is established before they are four or five months old was an incredible eye opener for me. My ah-ha moment would have been learning that sometimes having your puppy go to their crate for the first few minutes when you have guests arrive at your house. This gives them time to gain their composure. And, learning to not let your guests make a fuss over them because it creates an unnecessary amped up atmosphere.”
