Your dog doesn’t sleep in your bed because they’re spoiled. 🐶

They do it for three reasons:

Safety. Your bed smells like you, and you’re the person they trust most.
Connection. Dogs are social animals, and being close to you tells them everything is okay.
And the one that gets us: your dog doesn’t know how many nights you have together. They only know that tonight, you’re here.

Never, ever let your dog pull you down the street on their collar.

Most of us think pulling is just bad manners. But every time your dog hits the end of the leash, that pressure lands right on their neck. In one study of 26 dogs, pulling against a collar raised the pressure inside their eyes. With a harness, there was no significant rise.

A harness takes the pressure off, but it won’t teach your dog to stop pulling. Training does. A loose leash isn’t luck. It’s a skill, and we can help you teach it.

Nobody told the dog. 🐶⏰

Clocks go back this Nov 1. To us it’s an extra hour of sleep. To your dog, dinner is suddenly an hour late.

Ease them into it by moving meals and walks about 10 to 15 minutes a day, and go slower if your dog struggles. Puppies, older dogs and dogs with medical issues may need more time. After the change, keep feeding and walking times consistent. If your dog takes medication, ask your vet whether the timing should shift.

5 Ways to Teach Your Dog to Listen Even When They're Distracted

Ever feel like your dog suddenly forgets every command the moment you step outside? You're not alone!

Dogs often struggle to listen around distractions because exciting sights, sounds, and smells compete for their attention. The good news? You can help them improve with consistent, positive training.

Here are 5 ways to get started:

Start somewhere quiet. Practice basic commands at home before moving to busier environments.

Use high-value rewards. Find treats or toys your dog loves to help keep their attention.

Keep training sessions short. A few focused minutes can be more effective than one long session.

Increase distractions gradually. Practice around mild distractions first, then slowly make it more challenging.

Reward attention, not just commands. When your dog voluntarily looks at you or checks in with you, reward that behavior!

Remember, training takes patience. If your dog struggles, make the exercise easier and build up again. The goal isn't perfect obedience overnight. It's helping your dog succeed one step at a time.

5 Ways to Tell Your Dog Is Stressed

Your dog may not be able to tell you when something feels wrong, but their body language can give you clues.

Here are 5 signs your dog might be feeling stressed:

1. Excessive lip licking when there’s no food around.

2. Yawning repeatedly when they aren't tired.

3. Turning their head or body away from a person or situation.

4. Showing the whites of their eyes, sometimes called “whale eye.”

5. Tucking their tail or lowering their body when they feel uncomfortable.

Remember, one sign alone doesn't always mean your dog is stressed. Look at their overall body language and the situation they're in.

When your dog shows signs of stress, give them space, reduce the pressure, and let them feel safe. Learning to recognize these signals can make a big difference in your relationship with your dog.
