🐾🐾🐾UPDATE 2/22/2026 🐾🐾🐾We have an update on Timmy. We spoke with Timmy’s doctor, and he explained that the reason he canceled the dental procedure was because of Timmy’s calcium levels, they want to be sure he doesn’t have a tumor, the procedure could be risky.

We will be dropping him off at Coventry Animal Hospital Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. for a formal radiology and ultrasound evaluation by a specialist to further evaluate and identify the round structures in his abdomen that were found during the ER visit on May 20. They will also be checking his parathyroid blood levels as part of the evaluation.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has made donations, said prayers, and shared his fundraiser. Because of you, Timmy will be able to get the care he needs. Thank you all so much for your kindness, support, love, and hope as we continue taking these next steps for Timmy’s health.

Tim ended up at the ER last night after suddenly screaming and running around frantically. The emergency team performed an ultrasound and found two unidentified round structures in his upper abdomen.
At this point, Tim urgently needs a formal radiology and ultrasound review by a specialist to determine exactly what these structures are. He also needs parathyroid hormone blood testing to help find the cause of his dangerously elevated calcium levels.
Last night’s emergency visit cost $458. Tim is scheduled to return on Tuesday, 5/26, for additional testing and specialist review, which is expected to cost another $500 plus bloodwork.
Once we have answers and if there is no cancerous tumor, we will then be able to move forward with his much-needed dental procedure.
We know we previously asked everyone to pause donations while we waited for more information, but with these unexpected emergency expenses, we do still need help with Tim’s care. Every donation, share, and prayer truly means so much to us and to Tim. Thank you all for continuing to support him through this very scary and uncertain time. 💙

The rescue is asking everyone to please hold off on donations at this time. We just received a call that Timmy’s calcium levels are extremely elevated, and unfortunately he cannot have his dental procedure tomorrow. His appointment has been postponed while we speak with the doctor tomorrow to determine the next steps for his care.

If the appointment is not rescheduled soon, all donations will be refunded. We are so sorry for any inconvenience — this was completely unexpected, and we truly appreciate your understanding and support.

Please keep sweet Timmy in your thoughts and prayers as we figure out where to go from here. ❤️

Our sweet sanctuary pup, Timmy, has been with us in rescue for 11 years, and now he needs a little extra help.
We recently brought Timmy to a holistic vet for a dental cleaning because we hoped to avoid putting him under general anesthesia due to his age — he is approximately 15–16 years old. During the exam, it was discovered that Timmy needs three teeth extracted, which means he must now undergo a full dental procedure with a traditional veterinarian.
On May 13, Timmy had blood work completed, and thankfully everything came back ok except his calcium, we did a recheck today. That gave us some relief, but we are still understandably nervous because of his age. His dental procedure is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, and we are asking everyone to please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
As many know, senior dogs often require extra care, and dental disease can greatly impact their comfort and quality of life. We want to make sure Timmy is pain-free and able to continue enjoying his golden years.
If anyone would like to help support Timmy’s dental procedure, we would be incredibly grateful. Tims estimated cost is between $950 on the low end and $1,100 on the high end.
Every donation, share, prayer, and kind thought truly helps. Thank you for always supporting our rescue seniors and loving Timmy as much as we do. ❤️

A new peer-reviewed study analyzing commercial dog and cat foods found multiple mold toxins present across all diets, with higher levels in foods containing more cereal ingredients like corn🌽, wheat🌾, barley, oats, and rice🍚. Researchers detected 63 different compounds⚠️, with common toxins such as DON, zearalenone, and fumonisins often appearing together at low levels.

While all amounts were below safety limits, the study highlights uncertainty around long-term and combined exposure. Pets are exposed to multiple toxins at once, and the effects of these mixtures over time are still largely unknown. Broader research suggests some mycotoxins may act additively or synergistically, potentially amplifying their impact, and have been linked to immune and gut changes in animal models.

Contaminated corn🌽, in particular, has been associated with some of the largest pet food recalls and highest reported pet death events in modern history. Notably, the Midwestern Pet Foods SPORTMiX recall was linked to over 130 dog deaths and 220 illnesses, while a Sunshine Mills recall affected multiple brands. Corn’s susceptibility to heat, humidity, and poor storage makes it a common source of aflatoxin contamination.
