Staff of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Division of Agriculture & Forestry at our homestead to test our birds to renew our annual NPIP certification.
The National Poultry Improvement Plan
(NPIP) is a cooperative program in the United States aimed at improving poultry health and biosecurity. Established in the 1930s, the NPIP works to control certain poultry diseases, particularly those impacting the poultry industry, like avian influenza, salmonella, and mycoplasma infections. The program is a partnership among federal, state, and industry participants and provides standards for breeding, testing, and certification to help prevent disease spread.
NPIP certification is recognized nationwide and helps poultry breeders, hatcheries, and dealers demonstrate their commitment to disease prevention and control. All states require NPIP certification for transporting poultry across state lines.
At anb_homestead, our chickens, quails, geese, peafowl and golden pheasants have all been tested and are disease free.
