Emergency Care: We will stop what we are doing for all other patients to address these issues: They are life-threatening. Hit by car, trauma, ingestion (rat bait, chocolate, non-food items), uncontrolled bleeding/extensive laceration, Bloat/torsion of stomach, Fracture with open wounds, snake bite, loss of consciousness/seizure, breathing difficulty, heat stroke, dystocia (trouble in labor and delivery), severe burns, inability to urinate. Call us on your way in, and we will point you to the location best equipped to care for your emergency.

Unexpected Illnesses or Injuries (Urgent Care): These are conditions that require attention within the week, but it is not life-threatening. Examples include laceration/wounds with controlled bleeding, vomiting/diarrhea, cough without breathing difficulty, foxtails (nose/ear/paw/eye/elsewhere), ear infection, rash/skin infection, fracture (no wounds), eye issues, and minor burns. These conditions can be uncomfortable, and we will work to see your pet promptly. Call the office to see how we can best facilitate care.

Regular, Routine, Scheduled Exams: These exams are booked in advance. For continuity of care, your doctor and care team will book in advance annual wellness exams with preventatives and vaccines, disease management exams, medically non-urgent matters (slow-growing lumps, nutrition questions), chronic conditions, and follow-up care.

What is the advantage of keeping yourself a current client?
A current client has brought any patient to us within the last 3 years. Our current clients have access to after-hours emergency care, a dedicated care team, and our online pharmacy. In addition, current clients receive reduced urgent and emergency exam fees.

Starting in 2025, we will be closing in Ferndale on Saturdays. For our current clients and patients, your access to emergency care on the weekends is not changing. If you have an emergency, call our office and speak with a staff member to get your pet the care they need. If you have not established care with us, your opportunities will be limited to weekdays or where your pet regularly receives care.

Plan your prescription refills for WEEKDAY pick-ups. Request your refills 2-3 business days before you need them. A current annual wellness or annual disease management exam is required for chronic medications.

What is the advantage of keeping your pet current on an annual wellness exam? When an unexpected illness or injury occurs, we already have baseline care established. We know their vaccine status, chronic conditions, and personality in the hospital, which expedites their care. As a bonus, current patients can access a 10% discount on urgent/ER care (up to $100).

We are shifting our schedule to make more appointments available every day. We are also enacting policies to make it easier to access care. Patients who are current on their annual wellness exams will receive a 10% discount on all urgent and emergency care (up to $100).
