Trail scouting with my Board & Train GusGus, Mr Macho, Luka, Eli and their momma Sara Urbani We were on the search for new trails to add to the hiking class list. It was also a great opportunity to train the boys to hike together in harmony.

A few words on toy etiquette and how to get that ball obsessed dog to work for play. Compliments of GusGus who’s in Board & Train for better recall and resource guarding

Tonight’s hiking class was a blast! A trail less traveled and we had it all to ourselves 🥰 What I loved the most was how every student helped one another along the way. We swapped dog leashes, held out a hand and braced one another along the uneven path. Team work really does make the dream work. Drop in hikes are working beautifully, I’m so glad I executed this. Different group and fun dynamics every time we head out on the trail. Stay tuned for next weeks location 🐾 🌲 🐕

Puppy Kindergarten took a seat tonight during week four of the series. They shared one positive trait in their dog and one training challenge they’re still struggling with. This has been a fun and challenging puppy class in that we have spent much more time outdoors and walking. Whenever you see Kindergarten 2.0 on the Calendar I promise you it will incorporate a lot of valuable lessons. Great job tonight everyone 👏

This morning I hiked a beautiful little trail in the back of Rohner park. An old favorite for Miss Daisy and me. What I love about it is how few know about it and it’s suited for all types of people and dogs. Daisy’s old body can’t travel to most of the trails we once enjoyed together but this gem is just perfect. So Thursday evening join me for a drop in hike and I’ll show you the way.

Fun times today in Monday class! Gosh the Rohner park trails just never get old. It’s such a beautiful park and we are so lucky to have it here in fortuna. The dogs got to play a little hide and seek with their moms using redwood trees 🌲 🐕 🐾 ❤️

Graduation day feels so good! I’m always sad to see them go but happy they walked away with a stronger bond. This was yet again a great location for my Saturday class and the next one starts September 12th at 10:30am. Hop over to my website to sign up 🐾 www.redwoodcoastk9academy.com

So many wiggle butts in this class! Puppy Kindergarten took to the park last night and they did great. I should applaud the parents for their patience while training in the grass. Dog noses are a powerful tool if you have the right treats. But if you don’t natures bounty of smells can be a lot to compete with.

Monday class was on point today in ferndale 👏 We focused on the importance of proper communication via voice and hand signals. Using your leash as the first line of defense is a NO NO for owners. Learning how to condition dogs to our language and expectations is challenging and especially so in real life settings. These experienced students did a great job 💯

Ozzie & Momo had a very busy second day under my wing. One thing I love about Board & Train is how much better I get to know the dog. No owner there to provide their interpretation of the relationship for me. I can see the case from a different angle and put all the pieces together with more clarity. I’m looking forward to helping these boys even more now ❤️🐾
