Our sweet kitty, Cadet Marie, passed away today.
As hard as this is to type, we wanted to let the clients who were scheduled today know and thank you all for your understanding.
To those who knew and loved him, please know he is no longer in pain and he wasn't alone. We had been quietly trying to help him through ongoing health issues, but after suffering a very severe seizure, we rushed him to the emergency veterinarian. Surrounded by love, Cadet passed peacefully on his own.
Cadet was incredibly special. He wasn't just a cat—he had a way of making everyone fall in love with him, whether they considered themselves a cat person or not.
He was our big, goofy boy. The one who faithfully broke into the refrigerator and let our lunches spoil, tipped over every trash can looking for scraps, and waited under the tubs every single day just to be in the way while we squeegeed the floors. He would sit on the edge of the tub for hours, getting splashed just so he could be close to us.
He'd randomly come over, stretch against your leg, and ask to be picked up and held like a baby. Every morning he would be waiting for us at our grooming tables. It was such a small part of our day, but it meant so much.
For the past 10 years, Cadet has been more than our salon cat. We cried into his fur through some of life's hardest moments. He comforted us without ever asking for anything in return. He came into our lives needing love and healing, and somehow he ended up healing us too.
Our big man. Our cheddar cheese, strawberry boy. Thank you for every laugh, every cuddle, every greeting at the grooming table, and every memory you gave us.
We are beyond grateful for the 10 years we were blessed to share with you. A piece of our salon and a piece of our hearts left with you today.
Run free, sweet Cadet. You will never be forgotten, and you will always be part of A Bark above Pet Salon . We love you forever.
