BEHIND THE SCENES: THE REALITIES OF MOTHERHOOD AND BREEDING!
"When people look at our page, they see beautiful chunky puppies and Sweet Mama's. But today, I want to share the raw, exhausting, and scary side of breeding that many people don't realize happens behind the closed doors of a puppy Nursery.
Both LADY GRACE and PRINCESS CORAL have developed mastitis from nursing it is a painful, sudden infection in the mammary glands that causes the ni***es to become engorged, swollen, and dangerously hot. Gracie started running a high temperature and my midwife instinct had to kick into overdrive.
For the last 24 hours, I have been working around the clock to comfort both of them have been applying hot compresses, gently massaging the glands to clear the blockages, using cold cabbage leaves(an old school breeder trick to draw out inflammation and toxins) also giving Gracie a cool bath to safely bring Gracie's fever down.
SWITCHING TO BOTTLE FEEDING:
Because The Mamas are in pain and on the mend, we have officially stepped in to take the pressure off them. We are now bottle feeding the puppies to ensure they stay full, fat, and healthy. While giving Grace and Coral's bodies the brake they desperately need to heal.
Breeding isn't just about the joy of New Life; it's about the sleepless nights, the medical crisis, and doing whatever it takes to protect the health of not just the puppies, but our precious mamas who give us everything.
Please keep Gracie and Coral in your thoughts today for a speedy recovery, I also have them on clavamox for fever and infection. ( Also say a little prayer for my coffee pot this puppy midwife has a lot of bottles to heat up and wash! (:)
PS. ( While I was taking care of Coral, Lady Grace decided to start eating the cabbage.
