Last weekend we were privileged to host another working dog trial. There were some talented dog handlers, some rock star dogs, and great sportsmanship all around. We’re excited to see so much interest in the sport, and can’t wait to see where it goes from here!
With nearly 100 runs on the first day, and around 90 on the second day, our schedule was packed. It was a long, weekend, exhausting in the best way.
One thing we noticed that really stood out to us was the community that was building around the arena. Instead of being grouchy because everyone was tired, there was joy. People genuinely happy to be there. Thankful for the opportunity to learn and compete and do something they love.
Kids playing, dog handlers chatting about the different techniques they use, competitors congratulating each other, sharing meals together. Every once in a while you’d hear a group laughing.
We don’t see that kind of thing enough anymore in our world, and we’re really happy that our trial - and many other trials- can be a place to find friendship and community.
