The hardest part of this work is saying goodbye to one of our beloved therapy dogs. Recently, we had to say goodbye to Berte, and this loss has been especially difficult.

Berte was a C.A.T. therapy dog since 2015 and part of an elite group of canine volunteers who dedicated more than 10 years of service to our community. He and his mom/handler, Karen, were a beautiful team. In many ways, Berte was just like her: kind, loving, gentle, warm, and sweet as can be.

As a Cavalier King Charles, his big baby eyes and soft, silky fur drew people in. But it was his personality that made them fall in love. He never met a stranger and always made a new best friend everywhere he went.

Over the course of his life, Berte touched thousands of people through pet therapy visits. He lifted the spirits of seniors at Independence Hall, pediatric patients at Broward Health Medical, students in local schools, hospice, and many others.

Following the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018, Karen and Berte were on campus regularly providing comfort and support to students and staff. During an incredibly emotional time, Berte's calm presence offered moments of peace when it was needed most.

One of Berte's favorite places to visit was Holy Cross Hospital, especially the cancer infusion center. For years, he faithfully visited patients receiving treatment, easing anxiety and bringing smiles on some of their hardest days.

That was Berte's gift.

He had a remarkable way of making people feel loved and a little less alone. He was more than a therapy dog. He was a loyal friend, a gentle soul, and a source of comfort to everyone lucky enough to know him.

His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, in the volunteers and staff who knew him, and in his canine sister, Eliza Doolittle, who followed in his pawprints and became a therapy dog herself.

Run free, sweet boy. Thank you for more than a decade of love, comfort, and service. And thank you to Karen for sharing your boy with the world. He will always be part of the C.A.T. family and forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, Berte. 💜🌈🐾🪽

🐾Meet therapy dog Sadie! 🐾 Sadie is a sweet, almost 3-year-old Golden Retriever with a heart full of love and a passion for helping others. ❤️

Sadie and her dad, Rich, became a certified Canine Assisted Therapy team in March of last year and earned their child certification just five months later. Since then, they have made a tremendous impact through countless therapy visits, community events, and volunteer activities.

Together, they regularly visit The Palace at Weston, Memorial Regional Hospital, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and the Museum of Discovery and Science. They also help mentor new therapy teams and are always eager to lend a paw wherever they are needed. Whether comforting patients, greeting travelers, or supporting fellow volunteers, Sadie brings joy, smiles, and warmth to everyone she meets.

Interested in making a difference with your dog, just like Sadie and Rich? 🐶 If you're in South Florida and would like to learn more about becoming a certified therapy dog team, we'd love to hear from you!🐾❤️

Our therapy dogs were busy spreading smiles all across South Florida last week!

From supporting employees at BRIC, US Claims, and the Femwell Group, to bringing comfort and companionship to residents and staff at The Palace at Weston and West Boca Medical Center, our incredible therapy teams made a positive impact everywhere they went.

Every visit is an opportunity to reduce stress, brighten someone's day, and create meaningful connections. We are so grateful to our volunteer teams who dedicate their time and their amazing dogs to making a difference in our community.

Thank you to all of our partners for welcoming our therapy dogs and allowing us to share the healing power of the human-animal bond.

Once a member of our pack, always a member of our pack. ❤️

When you become a therapy team with us, you're family. We celebrate certifications and milestones, but we also stand beside our teams through retirement, life changes, and the loss of beloved therapy dogs.

Allison and Melvin touched countless lives through their therapy visits. After Melvin recently crossed the rainbow bridge, Allison chose to continue his legacy and is now a certified therapy dog team with Melvin's sister, Olivia. Their journey is a beautiful reminder that the impact of a therapy dog lives on through the people and communities they inspire.

We are so grateful for teams who continue volunteering through life's changes because their dedication makes a lasting difference in our community. 💙

🎻 Live music.
🍪 Cookie decorating.
🛍️ Self-care goodies.
🐾 Therapy dogs.

That's our kind of afternoon! We loved partnering with the and the McDonald House to create a day filled with comfort, fun, and plenty of smiles. 🤗

While our therapy dogs provided tail wags and furry friendship, Dr. Brandt Foundation added so many thoughtful touches, including a talented violinist, a cookie decorating station, and gift bags filled with self-care treats.

We're especially grateful for the Dr. Brandt Foundation's ongoing support of our therapy dog programming for mental health. Through partnerships like this, they're helping expand access to experiences that promote connection, comfort, and mental wellness throughout our community.

Stay tuned for more photos from this special day!!! 💜✨🐶
