Our 2025 Ground Driving Clinic at Laughing Buck Farm in collaboration with Hee-Haw Halfway House Donkey Rescue and Education Nonprofit was so much fun!

Participants first learned about harness and harnessing, then got hands on ground driving through an obstacle course with donkeys, mules, and a horse from both the farm and the rescue. Everyone got to try out different animals and feel how to steer and halt with the lines, as well as practice voice cues.

We had beautiful weather, wonderful participants and fabulous helpers. Of course, also amazing equines!

Thank you to all who attended and helped, you made the morning great!

It’s been amazing watching Milo grow here at Laughing Buck Farm, from rider to farm helper, intern, instructor, trainer, barn manager and farrier.

And let’s not forget their art projects… The last one was turning our refrigerator Wormer bin into a cool log. 🪵

Now they are moving out of state and on to their next big adventure.

Wishing you all the best, Milo. We love you!

Ranger, a horse that came into the rescue last year, who is now a therapy horse at Laughing Buck Farm. He came into the rescue well-trained, physically a bit broken, and mentally unable to connect with humans. It didn't take him long to realize that with love and care, he could really enjoy being a lesson horse. Here he is with one of his equestrian Club students, who planted a very sweet kiss on his nose after a ride.

New class: Homeschool Equestrian Club

Thursday Homeschool Equestrian Club
Thursdays, 9-11AM
ages 7 and up

Calling all horse lovers! From the very first class, we will learn to better understand how horses work, think and move. From there, each meeting will involve a different curriculum that will take lessons one step further. We want to explore the Whys and Hows of horsemanship through classroom brainstorming, riding time and/or demonstrations under saddle and fun hands-on activities.

After each club session, students will leave with enhanced horse safety and care skills, and strengthened relationships with horses and other riders alike! Club meetings are held regardless of weather, however, if riding is scheduled for that day - it will be replaced with a more suitable activity.

💛 What Makes Us Special
*The farm is our classroom—and every season brings a new adventure. In fall, we enjoy the garden harvest. Winter means snowy forts and steamy animal breath. Spring is for muddy boots and planting seeds. All year long, we care for animals, make memories, and explore the magic of the farm.

*Small groups, big connections: With 8 kids per session and 2 adult guides, everyone is seen, known, and included.

*Real work, real fun: Children care for animals, gather eggs, make art with natural materials, play in the hay barn, and help with farm chores in a way that builds confidence and capability.

*Mixed ages, shared learning: Younger children look up to older ones, and older children gain responsibility and empathy. We see all children as capable and creative, in their own time and way.

*Sensory-rich and inclusive: Our program is welcoming to all learners. With support from our nonprofit, we offer scholarships and adaptive programming to ensure access for every family.
