Is a trophy really about inches… or the story behind it? 🦌

I hunted this buck all season.
The day it finally happened, nothing lined up — got out of work late, 70° temps, full moon, and barely one hour left to hunt.

By every rule, I shouldn’t have been in the woods.
But sometimes the hunts that fight you the hardest become the ones you remember forever.

To me, the trophy isn’t just the rack — it’s the story.

Trophy deer hunting gets a lot of opinions.

Some say a trophy is all about inches and score.
Others say the real trophy is the memory, the hunt, or a first deer.

I believe trophy hunting can be good for wildlife management — but I also believe a trophy is in the eye of the beholder.

From damage to redemption.
This buck came in with a frontal shot that destroyed the nose and facial structure. I was upfront that a replacement cape might be necessary—but with careful repair, rebuilding, and detail work, we were able to save it and bring this deer back to life.
