Sometimes they just don’t fit😂
(Thank goodness for walk in showers)

Ranger isn’t just one of the heaviest dogs I do, weighing in at a whopping 140lbs, but is the tallest. On all 4 legs his head is to my chest and his hips sits at my hips!

He’s very large, but is full of love while giving the wettest kisses and makes sure I know his weight with giant hugs🩷🩷🩷

Golden Retriever day, which means, I got extra kisses❤️❤️❤️
As usual when I have an abundance of a certain breed, here’s some facts!

According to countryliving.com

1. Dudley Coutts Marjoribanks, also known as Lord Tweedmouth, developed the breed in Scotland during the late 19th century.

2. They have water-repellent double coats that shed seasonally. (Brush your Golden once a week to minimize the shedding!)

3. There are actually three types of Golden Retrievers, and they vary in color and size.

4. Golden Retrievers are known to become sad and even depressed when left alone for long periods of time. Experts say they shouldn't be left alone for more than seven hours.

5. They make great watch dogs, but not-so-great security dogs. They'll bark loudly at strangers, but once they physically interact with a person, a Golden becomes more friendly.

Last week, I had the honor of grooming 3 beautiful working dogs, Nyx, Angus, and Bolo. They are Great Pyrenees and work/live on a farm. Here’s some facts about their breed❤️

According to AKC.org
1. They Were Bred to Be Guard Dogs
The Great Pyrenees was bred to be a livestock guard dog for the farmers in the Pyrenees Mountains of Europe which form the border between France and Spain. These farmers bred the Great Pyrenees and the smaller Pyrenean Shepherds; the latter was in charge of herding, while the former was in charge of protecting the flock from predators like wolves and bears.

2. The Breed Is So Old, They’ve Been Fossilized
The Great Pyrenees likely arrived in the Pyrenean Mountains with their shepherds around the year 3,000 B.C. Fossils of the Great Pyrenees have been found in the region and dated to between 1800 B.C. and 1000 B.C. Experts think the breed probably evolved from white mountain dogs that originated in Asia Minor as many as 11,000 years ago.

3. They’re Nocturnal by Nature
The Great Pyrenees was bred to guard the flocks at night while the shepherds were sleeping and predators roamed about. Because of this, he is naturally nocturnal. People who keep Pyrs as pets shouldn’t be surprised to find they often bark at night. This makes them a great deterrent for burglars.

Today was full of hair with 3 beautiful Bernese Mountain Dogs🩷 so here’s some fun facts:

According to Dogster.com:
1. The Coat Is Always Tricolored

If you’ve ever seen a Berner, you know that the coat is thick and tricolored with white, black, and brown colors, with black being the predominant color on the body. They tend to have white chests with white on the face, and brown can be seen around the legs and above the eyes, nose, and mouth. The thickness of the tricolored coat also enables them to withstand harsh, cold climates, much like the climate in their native Switzerland.

2. They Were Used as “Cheese Dogs”

In the 1850s, the Bernese Mountain Dog was used to pull carts of cheese and milk to customers. In fact, they could pull carts weighing up to a whopping 1,000 pounds or 10 times their body weight. Even though these dogs are no longer used for this purpose, the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America holds cart-pulling competitions each year to allow these versatile working dogs the chance to show off their skills and strength.

3. They Are Slow to Mature

Berners do not reach full-grown maturity until 2 to 3 years of age, meaning these affectionate dogs tend to stay in the goofy puppy stage longer than other dog breeds. They are also slow to mature mentally, meaning it takes time to train them as working dogs and understand the tasks that are expected of them. There is an old Swiss saying relating to their long puppyhood: “Three years a puppy, three years a good dog, three years an old dog, and the rest is a gift.”
