Well, the Donkey Express was on the road again today. A very short day, actually. Another stray donkey showed up on a farm that was only 6 miles from the rescue. Of course, he is an intact jack. Of course, he is wild. We are very grateful that the people whose farm he ended up on were caring people. They also gave us a donation towards his care. Thank you to Bethany, who contacted us on the post about him. Thank you to Tara, a new volunteer who came along to help. She did get off pretty easy this time around since the people had him contained in pens set up for cattle. We just never know what a day at Crossroads will hold. We welcome Scottie to our Crossroads family.

We had some special visitors today. Chris and Angie Paterson came out today to help around the farm. We are being overrun by tall w**ds around the barns and in the pasture, and Chris offered to get our walk behind w**d trimmer working again. It was a bit more involved than expected, but it's up and running again. After the work was done, Chris and Angie came equipped with lots of boxes of gingersnaps and spent some quality time with our rescues. I think people and donkeys alike were happy after the work was done. Thank you, Chris and Angie!! I always say you meet the best people thru the rescue donkeys. The proof is in the photos. 😁

Very sad day at the rescue. Wizard had to be humanely euthanized today. When I woke up this morning, he was down and in severe respiratory distress. A call was put into the University Equine Hospital and after a discusion with Wizard's vet, the decision was made for euthanasia. He has been doing so well that this was definitely a shock to us all. Wizard is no longer suffering and has joined his dad, Archie, to greener pastures. He is going to be missed. Rest in Peace, dear Wizard.

The Donkey Express was on the road again today to Normandy TN to pick up 2 white jennys. They were bought to be used as livestock guardians but were not doing their job. They are mom, Dolly and daughter, Daisy Mae. Dolly has a severe skin condition on her face. It looks so very painful. We will be contacting our vet to start treatment to help her heal. We are just thankful that their owner called us rather than haul them off to an auction. Thank you to Marci and Ray who came to help us load them up in the trailer. They lived nearby and offered to help. And of course, I had to make a stop to their farm and visit their adopted donkeys, Vivian, Daisy, and Viggy. I will keep you all updated on Dolly's skin condition. Just relieved that Dolly and Daisy Mae found their way to Crossroads.

Half Pint is doing well after his castration. In trying to figure out where I could keep them here at Crossroads to keep them together, a wonderful woman, Marianne, in Decatur, AL graciously offered to foster them both. So the Donkey Express hit the road again today to bring Half Pint and Marshamellow to their vacation cabin while Half Pint heals up. Sometimes I want to rescue donkeys and don't have a clue how I can make it all work. Well, God performed another miracle and they now have a safe, secluded, beautiful place to get ready for their new home!! Feeling very blessed yet again! 😇

The Donkey Express was on the road again today to the vet clinic to tranform Half Pint into a gelding. He doesnt look too happy at this moment, but his life will be so much better now. A family with young children who previously visited Crossroads is very interested in Half Pint and Marshamellow. Hoping we can get them to their loving home real soon.

The Donkey Express was on the road today to Morrison TN to pick up a cute little mini jack, Half Pint, and his large standard companion, Marshamellow. The owners were getting older and could no longer care for them. They are covered in burrs and their hooves are a mess, but they are both people friendly. I am just glad we could be there to help them. Stay tuned for more photos. Right now, its time to get all those burrs out of their coat.

We had some very good friends visiting the rescue today. Marcie and Ray have not only adopted 3 donkeys from Crossroads, they have volunteered their time, along with their friends, to help me and Crossroads with some major projects we had here at the farm. Today, they stopped by and met Liam. My hope was they would adopt Liam to join our other rescue donkeys Daisy, Vivian, and Viggy. Brings me so much joy to see Marci and Ray fall in love with Liam. It is official and Liam will be joining their family, and nothing makes me happier. I always want the best for my animals. Liam will have other young donkeys to play with. And have a special family to give him love and the best care. A great day! ❤️❤️❤️

For any of you who were wondering how Petunia is doing after the loss of her best friend, Gretchen, she is doing well. She has been hanging out with fellow seniors, Honey Bee and Marshal, who she has known for many years. Maybe they sense that she needs them right now. But they seem to have their little circle of friends. Makes us so happy that Petunia has her other good friends for support. ❤️

With Gretchen's recent passing, she leaves behind her best companion, Petunia. Donkeys form tight bonds in their relationship with another donkey. They were always together. As she does every morning, she came up to right outside gate where Gretchen would normally eat her grain and lays down waiting patiently for Gretchen to finish her meal. So very sad that today Gretchen was not there. Brings tears to my eyes. We will keep a close eye on Petunia. She did accept a few treats. Hoping she will be able to find another companion to be with. 💔

We are so sad this morning. Gretchen passed away through the night. Thank you all for your prayers. Gretchen has spent most of her years dealing with issues from her years of neglect before she came to Crossroads. She no longer is in pain. Rest in Peace, our sweet Gretchen.
