Have you ever wondered what your herding breed dog would do if introduced to sheep or maybe ducks?

Here is your opportunity....

Tina Bauhs (CO) is holding two (2 day) Herding 101 Clinics at Sheepsmith Farm in Pinckney, MI. Each participant is highly encouraged to work with Tina and their dog for both days of their two day clinic to help you better understand herding concepts and for you and your dog to work on stock four times. Sometimes the herding lightbulb in our dogs doesn't immediately illuminate. The dog in the photo below did NOT work stock immediately at all. Multiple stock exposures can help. Marni now has 4 herding titles.

Cost is $120 per day, per dog. Clinic dates are July 6/7 or July 8/9. We are flexible on scheduling but only 10 dog/handler teams per day to give everyone time. Payment via check or paypal secures your working slot. FMI email Nancy at [email protected]

The All Breed Herding Club of Lower Michigan is holding 2 Farm Dog Certification Tests on July 17 in Pinckney. MI. 2 tests, 2 judges, so you can get your title in 1 day.

Day of show entries are allowed, so come out and and have some fun with your dog. No herding skills required.

I’ve been training dogs for over 40 years. First came obedience, out of necessity, since I owned a Beagle, and conformation. Then I found agility! I was hooked, dogs having FUN while being trained! Kola and Mocha my Pembroke Welsh Corgi’s taught me so much, and we became quite the team. Then Kola and I tried herding, oh my, oh my, did he like that! My ADDICTION was started. So sheep had to be added, just a few to start............then I needed to start breeding to keep my ever enlarging flock up.........then goats have been added.........what will be next?

The Corgi’s have gone onto the rainbow bridge, and I now have gone back to Rottweilers. People always ask “they herd”? Yes they do! Indy and Trooper are teaching me so much more about herding! We have expanded to herding cattle, which is a rush.

So what to do in the winter? How about making leashes and collars? Sure I can do that! to be coming........Leashes by AHAA. Stay tuned.
