It’s been one week since Toby passed. It’s been a huge learning curve. We miss him so much. The house seems so empty. We are surviving one day at a time. Marley has never “worked” so hard in his whole life. He met so many new friends. He has begged me to take him home at noon 🤣 (he might not be cut out for Paw Patrol hours). He has done great. We are both exhausted. I am grateful for a “job” that I can bring him without issue. I have learned that he is actually the boss. He just lets me work here. ❤️
Thank you for your consistent, loyal, never failing love and support. Happy hump day, my friends.

It’s with a heavy heart that I sit here typing this message out.

My little chihuahua, Toby, has crossed over the rainbow bridge.
I was given 15 1/2 years with him. It wasn’t nearly enough. If I could sacrifice anything to make my babies live longer, I would.
Toby and I have been through a crazy amazing life together. Amazing, hard, and challenging times. One thing remained consistent, his unconditional, never ending, no strings, no matter what happened type of love he had for me.
I believe that this is the absolute hardest part of life. Heartbreak. His pain was eased at the price of my heart shattering into pieces. He deserved peace and to be pain free no matter the cost.

Several years ago Toby was given a few weeks to a few months of life. He proved us all wrong. That was him. He was stubborn, sassy, bossy, cranky (at times) but he always knew what I needed when I needed it. I asked one thing of him in the beginning of my health journey last year. “Please hang in there for me until we both get through this. I need you and I’m not strong enough to do it without you.” He did that and more. He fulfilled his promise and purpose with the utmost loyalty and love anyone could ask for. It was my turn to fulfill mine.

The road to the rainbow bridge is never easy and it isn’t paved with markers, clear answers, or rules of engagement. It’s ugly and hard. It’s the feeling of defeat. It’s the questioning every decision you’ve ever made on their behalf. I believe with all of my heart that if you listen, they will speak. Toby started speaking. He told me how tired he was through his eyes. His body was failing. His behavior changed drastically. Toby was ready but I was not.
The trauma associated with losing a fur baby is something that isn’t talked about enough. It doesn’t matter that we know it’s time. It’s traumatic no matter what. This has definitely had a huge traumatic impact on not only me but also my other fur baby, Marley. They understand a lot more than we think or give them credit for. They grieve just like we do.

I’m writing all of this to ask you for patience, grace, and understanding in the coming week(s). Marley has never been without Toby. That’s all he knows almost 5 years into his life. My plan is to start training Marley to come to work with me. I think it will be good therapy and distraction for both of us. I do know that there are dogs that we have that don’t get along with other dogs and things of that nature. Completely understand. I am prepared to leave him in the truck during that time or if you would rather me not bring him at all to your house just let me know and I will honor that. Right now I just want to get us both through these feelings of loneliness, anger, sadness, and complete despair.

🥶 Good morning! I hope that everyone is staying warm. I am NOT a fan of the cold but Marley 👇🏽is! 🤣
I am working on the schedule today. I will hopefully have places for you everyone by the end of today for what we have already missed. 🤞 hopefully the weather plays nice for a while 😬

We definitely tried! Unfortunately in this weather the trailer and bus do not handle it well. I will not risk the safety of my team nor the safety of your fur babies. I just can’t do it.
This is the hardest time of the year to work. We also have to worry about water lines and pumps freezing going down the road. Sometimes even running two heaters down the road isn’t enough.
There’s a high probability we won’t be working for the next several days. I appreciate each and every one of you! Your love and support mean everything to me!

With that being said, please please please be aware of how long your fur babies are staying outside. They won’t always tell us when they are too cold. We need to speak for them and make sure they are safe. Only letting them out for short potty breaks. Frost bite can set in quickly on top of a mountain of other issues. We don’t want anyone to get hurt.

I will be reaching out to everyone scheduled later today to confirm cancellations.
