You know what today is? National Fresh Breath Day!

Make sure you don't forget to brush your Fur-babies teeth extra good today to help prevent the build up of plaque and tarter!

Dont have a pet toothbrush? No problem! We always recommend a kids soft bristle toothbrush. Make sure you pick their favorite characters too!

When in doubt, stay out!
Harmful algal blooms can be toxic - protect yourself and your pets

Be on the lookout for green or blue-green algae in the water – and steer clear of it. While algae naturally occur in lakes and ponds, excessive growth of certain types can result in harmful algal blooms (HABs). Just as the name suggests, HABs are harmful, even toxic, to humans and animals if ingested, inhaled, or if physically touching the skin.

Stay vigilant and safe when recreating in or around the water, especially in summer through early fall, by closely inspecting it before you enter any waterbody. When HABs occur, the water may appear discolored, often resembling thick green or blue-green mats. Toxins produced by the algae may be present even when visible scums and mats have dissipated.

Visit our Water Quality & Watersheds Outreach page for more information about HABs & access helpful resources - https://seagrant.psu.edu/outreach/topics-projects/ -quality

It's Friday! Where's the BEAT?! 🫀
CAUTION- May experience some TACHYCARDIA (abnormally rapid heart rate) when seeing your Fur-babies.

EKG is a GREAT pre-surgical heart-health screening that will report any notable abnormalities and is recommended before any anesthetic procedure.
