☀️ As temperatures rise, our pets need extra care and attention to stay safe and healthy.

Please make sure your pets always have access to fresh, cool water — both indoors and outdoors. Pets can become dehydrated much faster during hot weather, especially senior pets, brachycephalic breeds, and very active animals. Adding extra water bowls around the house and yard can make a big difference. 🐾💧

And most importantly — NEVER leave your pet in a parked car.
Even with the windows cracked open, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise dangerously within minutes and become life-threatening very quickly. On a warm day, the inside of a car can reach extreme temperatures faster than many people realize.

If you need to run errands, please leave your furry family members safely at home in the cool air conditioning. ❤️

Watch for signs of overheating:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting
• Difficulty breathing

If you suspect heatstroke, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Summer is also a great time to stay on top of your pet’s preventive care!

We look forward to seeing your furry family members for their annual wellness exams, vaccinations, and routine preventive care to help keep them healthy year-round. 🩺🐶🐱

We are also here for planned spay and neuter procedures, which are an important part of your pet’s long-term health and well-being.

Call us today to schedule your pet's next wellness exam and rabies vaccination!

Pet Obesity Isn't Cute - It's Dangerous!

🐾 Pet Obesity Isn’t Cute — It’s Dangerous!

Why it’s a serious issue:
• ❤️ Extra strain on the heart
• 🦴 Joint pain & arthritis
• 🍬 Higher risk of diabetes
• 🛡️ Weakened immune system
• 📉 Shorter lifespan (1–2+ years less)

---

✔️ How to Help Your Pet Lose Weight

1. Portion control
Measure every meal. No table scraps or “just a little treat.”

2. Feeding routine
2–3 meals a day. Avoid free-feeding.

3. More activity
Dogs: longer walks, fetch, swimming.
Cats: climbing towers, puzzle toys, 10–15 min play sessions.

4. Track progress
Healthy weight loss = 1–2% of body weight per week.

5. Vet check-up
If weight loss isn’t achieved, schedule an exam speak with your veterinarian about specific diets or other possible health issues that may be making it difficult.

💛 Remember

A healthy weight means a longer, happier, and more active life.
Loving your pet also means keeping them fit. 🐶🐱💛

Did you miss us? 🐾
We hope you’ve been catching up on our previous posts! Today, let's talk about something we see in the clinic every single day: your pet's ears. 👂
Have you ever noticed the incredible variety of ears out there? From tiny to massive, "prick" ears that stand tall to "floppy" ears that hang low... they come in all shapes and sizes! But no matter the type, they all need a professional check-up from time to time.
Here are a few things every pet parent should know:
🚫 The Q-Tip Myth: Did you know that using cotton swabs isn’t always the right way to clean? In many cases, it can actually push debris deeper into the canal.
🧼 "Dirty" doesn't always mean "Infected": Not every bit of ear wax requires medication. Sometimes it’s normal, and sometimes it’s a symptom of something else entirely!
💧 The Truth About Ear Drops: It’s not just about the drops; it’s about the cause. We don’t just treat the ear—we fight the underlying issue. Whether it's bacteria (like cocci or rods), a yeast infection, or a combination of both, we need to know exactly what we are fighting to treat it effectively.
Take a moment today to check your pet’s ears. If you notice a strange smell, redness, or excessive scratching, it’s time for a visit!
Schedule your Wellness Exam today and let’s keep those tails wagging!

Today, we’d like to talk about a serious condition that can affect female pets — pyometra.

Pyometra is a severe infection of the uterus where it fills with pus. It most commonly develops after a heat cycle due to hormonal changes. This condition can progress quickly and become life-threatening.

❗️ Pyometra is an emergency and will not resolve on its own. It requires urgent surgery. Without treatment, it can lead to severe complications or even death.
The best way to prevent pyometra is through planned spaying.

Take care of your pet’s health in advance — and give them the chance for a long, happy life by your side ❤️

Call us today to schedule your pet's next wellness exam, vaccination and routine spaying and neutering. !

⚠️ Did you know ticks can be active even when it’s not summer?
These tiny parasites may look harmless, but they can carry dangerous diseases for pets and people.
❓ Are ticks dangerous?
Yes. Ticks can transmit serious illnesses such as Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichiosis.
🌡 When are ticks active?
Ticks wake up when temperatures reach about 40°F (4–5°C). In places like Pennsylvania, they can be active from early spring through late fall, and sometimes even during warmer winter days.
🌿 Where can pets pick up ticks?
Not only in the woods. Ticks are commonly found in:
• tall grass
• bushes
• parks
• even your own backyard
🛡 How to protect your pet:
✔ use monthly flea & tick prevention
✔ check your pet after walks
✔ remove ticks as soon as possible
🐶 Interesting tick facts:
• Ticks can be as tiny as a poppy seed, making them hard to notice.
• They may stay attached to a pet for several days while feeding.
• The sooner a tick is removed, the lower the risk of disease transmission.
• Even indoor pets can be exposed if ticks hitch a ride inside.
🐾 We are happy to see your pets for wellness exams to help choose the best monthly flea and tick prevention.
Vaccinations are also available at our center.

🐾 A spring wellness exam helps detect potential health concerns before symptoms appear and allows us to create a personalized care plan for your pet.
🩺 During a wellness visit, we assess: ✔️ overall health and physical condition
✔️ skin and coat health
✔️ flea & tick prevention options
✔️ nutrition and weight management
✔️ vaccinations and diagnostics, if needed
💚 Preventive care today means a healthier season ahead.

💗 After a busy day and just ahead of Valentine’s Day, we want to send love to all of you — and especially to your beloved furry noses 🐾
We know how much you love to kiss them, cuddle them, and spoil them with affection.
But true love is more than hugs and kisses.
Real love means thinking about their health ahead of time — being proactive, asking questions, and helping them stay healthy.
That’s why we encourage you to schedule regular wellness exams, keep vaccinations up to date, and talk to us about any concerns you may have. Preventive care is one of the purest forms of love.
💞 Valentine’s Day is often associated with love and reproduction.
But for pets, reproduction is physiology — and not always healthy or loving.
That’s why we’re happy to schedule appointments for routine spay and neuter procedures.
Love should be caring.
Love should be safe. ❤️🐶🐱

🐾 Have you noticed your pet licking themselves more than usual?
Sometimes pet parents notice that their dog or cat suddenly becomes extra “clean” —
constantly and intensely licking their paws, sides, belly, or the base of the tail.
Many people think this is normal behavior — “they’re just grooming.”
⚠️ But excessive licking can be an important warning sign of an underlying health issue.
Possible causes include:
🔹 Allergies (food, seasonal, or environmental)
🔹 Parasites such as fleas or mites
🔹 Bacterial or fungal skin infections
🔹 Pain or discomfort (joints, spine, or internal issues)
🔹 Stress and anxiety (moving, being left alone, new pets, changes at home)
❗ Often, pet owners don’t realize there’s a real problem until it gets worse — redness, hair loss, moist sores, or an unpleasant skin odor may appear.
🩺 How can a wellness appointment help your pet?
✔️ Early detection of hidden health concerns
✔️ Identifying the cause of itching, excessive licking, and skin irritation
✔️ Evaluation of overall health, skin, and coat condition
✔️ Creating a personalized prevention and care plan
✔️ Routine vaccinations and parasite prevention
✔️ Nutrition, allergy, and lifestyle guidance
✔️ Discussion of spay/neuter options with affordable pricing
💙 A wellness appointment is about keeping your pet healthy — before serious problems develop.
💙 Preventive care today means comfort and peace of mind tomorrow.
📞 Schedule your appointment today
and enjoy more happy moments with your furry (or not-so-furry) best friend 🐶🐱
