We are so happy to share that DOLLY WAS FOUND SAFE! 💕💕

One of our technician friends over at Animal Hospital of Waterville had their pup come up missing yesterday morning from the Horseback Road in South China. Dolly is a 5 month old Pitbull puppy. Her mom Nicole misses her very much! If you have any information about her whereabouts please reach out to Nicole at 207-431-7020 or 207-616-4746

🚨 High Heat Risks for Dogs & Cats 🚨
When temperatures rise, our pets are at serious risk of heatstroke — and it can happen faster than you think. All pets are at risk, but some pets (elderly, “smooshed face”, and those with underlying medical conditions) are at an even greater risk.

🌡 Never leave your pet in a parked car — even with the windows cracked, temperatures can skyrocket to deadly levels in minutes.

💧 Make sure pets always have fresh water and shade. Or better yet - keep them inside if possible!

🏃‍♂️ Avoid walks or outdoor play during the hottest parts of the day. Avoid walking on tar or concrete as it can burn their paw pads.

🐾 Signs of heat stress include heavy panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, and collapse. If you see these, move your pet to a cool area immediately and contact your vet. Pets with heat stroke often require emergency medical care. DO NOT hose them off/dunk them in cold water.

‼️ When checking in/waiting for your appointment time please refrain from walking your pet around our parking lot. Heat stroke can happen VERY fast. If your vehicle does not have AC please let us know and we will make space inside for you and your furry friend! ‼️

Remember: If it’s too hot for you, it’s even hotter for them. Protect your furry friends this summer! ❤️🐶🐱

As summer begins, it is vital to create a safe and enjoyable environment for pets. Heat prevention and hydration are critical. Avoid walking pets during the hottest part of the day when pavement is extremely hot, and always provide access to fresh, cool water. Offer shaded areas or air-conditioned spaces to help pets stay cool. Never leave pets unattended in a hot vehicle, as this can have devastating consequences.
