Levi the mixed breed just switched over to our Teen Track Prep School Program to work on keeping all 4 paws on the floor when greeting and improve his loose leash walking. This program is specifically designed for dogs 6 months and over. They get to enjoy daytime socialization and training while you’re at work. Private lessons and access to our flexible group classes are also included to transfer everything they are learning during the day to you!

Mario the Goldendoodle is one of our newest Canine Campers and we’re so excited to have him! 🐶

Not your typical Doggy Daycare! Our Canine Campers will enjoy playtime, enrichment, and napping during their stay at Camp.

Camp is meant to maintain your pups training so there will be quite a bit of training happening during playgroup. We will practice recalls out of play, group sits, taking turns for treats, and sitting at gates/doors before they are opened.

Campers will also get to see a variety of enrichment objects added to their playgroups. They will also be exposed to a variety of socialization props including canes, crutches, wheelchairs, fireworks sounds, noise cds, and more!

🚨 New class alert! 🚨

Have you ever seen a video of a polar bear voluntarily sitting for a blood draw? What about brushing a walrus’s tusks? Those are perfect examples of Cooperative Care! This class will teach you how to help your pup become a cooperative participant in their own healthcare and grooming. If your dog struggles with grooming, handling at the vet, ear care, eye care, or nail trims this class is for you.

Cooperative care takes the stress out of these less than exciting events for your dog. This Thursday at 6:00pm!

**Dogs should have an understanding of nose/hand targets, sit, down, place, and stay prior to signing up for this class.**

Congrats to Tea who has earned the title of A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen 🎓 We are so proud of your accomplishments here with us!💜 Tea actually lives in NY with his mom and while they were visiting RI they decided to sign-up for a private lesson and testing event! Mom is working on Tea’s skills so he can hopefully be a Therapy dog one day!

Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners. Whether you want a good family pet or you are aiming to have your dog become a therapy dog, this is a great first step towards reaching those goals!

We would like to congratulate instructor Lorena on some of her recent accomplishments in the breed ring!

At the end of July, Marshall was BOS/BOBOH, then won the OH Sporting Group and went RBISOH! 🎉

In the middle of August, Marshall was BOB/ BOBOH and earned a Sporting group 3 and OH Group 1! 🎉

At the end of August, Marshall was Select dog the first day and then BOB/ BOBOH the second along with an OH group 2! 🎉

Congratulations to super sniffer Skye who passed his Anise and Clove Odor Recognition tests!

The Odor Recognition Test consists of 12 identical boxes generally placed in 2 rows of six. The teams must correctly identify the “hot box.”
The hot box is the one with the scent hidden in it. The scents tested for are Birch, Anise, and Clove.

We will be hosting our next FREE AKC Fit Dog Walk on August 30th at 10 am at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick RI! (This walk Is not suitable for reactive or aggressive dogs.)

What is AKC Fit Dog? 🐕

The American Kennel Club is committed to improving and maintaining the fitness and health of all dogs and their owners.
AKC FIT DOG titles were designed to provide a structured, individualized fitness plan that you and your dog can do together.
There are 3 levels of AKC fitness titles—Bronze (FITB), Silver (FITS), and Gold (FITG). Each title requires a specific number of activity points to be completed, which varies based on title level. 🏵️

For each of the 3 levels of titles, a minimum number of points must be earned in at least 2 categories for the title to be awarded.
AKC FIT DOG titles are noncompetitive, and dog owners may choose different activities to earn titles.

Who can participate in AKC FIT DOG? 🤔

To earn AKC FIT DOG titles, dogs can be purebred dogs registered with the AKC, or mixed-breed dogs registered with the AKC Canine Partners program. But if your dog is not registered with the AKC, you can still participate and even earn a free magnet! To earn a Bronze AKC FIT DOG Title, dogs must be at least 6 months old, but keep in mind there may also be other age-related rules that handlers must follow for higher-impact sports. (Such as agility or Disc.)

When participating in AKC FIT DOG activities, dogs may wear slip collars, buckle collars, martingales, and body harnesses, or head collars. Dogs may not wear training collars such as prong collars, or e-collars. Dogs should be on 4- or 6-foot leashes made of fabric or leather unless participating in a sport that requires a dog to be off-leash. Head halters are also allowed. Dogs with disabilities are welcome and encouraged to participate in FIT DOG titling, so long as they can safely perform the events. Handlers with disabilities can use any mobility aids and assistance necessary.
