Did you know the Barn's pollinator garden is registered as a Monarch Butterfly Waystation? But it is home to so much more with grasshoppers, skippers, swallowtail butterflies and even ruby-throated hummingbirds. There are all types of pollinators who enjoy the Barn's gardens.

We've partnered with the Evergreen Park Public Library to bring you "Yes You CAN: Preserving Safely." The University of Illinois Extension will join us to help home cooks, gardeners, and food enthusiasts safely preserve fruits and vegetables at home on September 16 from 6:30-8:00 PM. The Friends of the Barn Garden Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. In July, Mast Gardener Laurine visited with the group and spoke about companion gardening for pest control, an option for avoiding pesticides. We also talked about soil health and the process for becoming a Master Gardener through the University of Illinois Extension. Jim and Patricia shared some of their cactus leaves with the group and Laurine brought in tarragon. At the end of the meeting, we met a new friend of the Barn, a tort kitten who found a new home.

All are welcome to join us on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 7:00-8:00 PM at our Friends of the Barn Garden Club.
