Teaching my puppy how to orbit.

Day 1 of teaching my puppy leash manners. Luring helps get repetitions in and overtime the lure is phased out. Same with rewards…. She’s rewarded often right now but over time I will add duration in so the rewards are not as frequent. I am starting inside the house because I am more likely to have success in an environment that isn’t overstimulating.

I am self training my Service Dog prospect and searched so hard even within a 2 hour drive to find something like this, and nothing… group classes are something I’d be interested in attending, however, multiple dogs in one room with big feelings of the unknown and whatever they’re mentally processing is a lot and I don’t want to put her into a situation where she would feel overwhelmed so I created this to give her a head start. I felt like this was something worth sharing because, as dog owners, we do our best to make the right decisions for our dogs. But the reality is, not everyone is going to agree with how we choose to raise, train, or care for them.

There will always be someone who thinks you’re doing it wrong. Someone who questions your decisions, points out your mistakes, or makes you feel small because your approach doesn’t align with theirs. And so often, those judgments are built on assumptions, personal opinions, beliefs, and individual experiences rather than an understanding of your actual situation.

Here’s what I want you to remember:

No matter how you approach training, I am proud of you for putting in the effort to find ways to help your dog live their best life.

There isn’t just one way to train a dog. There isn’t just one way to navigate the challenges of dog ownership. And there certainly isn’t one approach that will make everyone happy.

You can be open to learning, willing to grow, and receptive to new information without allowing someone else’s opinion to define your worth as a dog owner.

You are enough. Your efforts matter. And you don’t have to seek approval from everyone in the dog community to know that you’re doing your best.

You’re not for everyone. Your approach won’t be for everyone. And that’s okay.

Everyone in the home trains our dogs. They don’t have to but they also can’t be expected to be listened to if they don’t. My daughter LOVES working with our dogs and is very good at it 🫶🏻
