Put that winter coat back on, Eliza! Cold days are coming up fast ☃️

This silly-looking pup is Eliza, a three-year-old Golden Retriever mix who seems to be capable of giving herself a summer cut, so that you don’t have to! She shed off her big, fluffy coat shortly after coming to HSEP, and all that seems to be left is her fluffy lion’s mane around her ears! As pretty as she is, though, this pup doesn’t need a fluffy coat to charm you with her loving and brilliant nature. Eliza is absolutely sweeter than pie and loves to greet her friends with a goofy smile and a full-body wiggle that’ll never fail to make you laugh. She’s a total people-pleaser who’s quick to catch onto tricks and eager to show them off, too!

Poofy, floofy, and made of all of the love in the world: Eliza may take the cake for goodest girl ever. Stop by HSEP and meet her today!

Eliza’s adoption fee has been sponsored by SCNAVTA at PIMA

Guess who’s back, back again: Curty’s back, tell your friends!

Meet Curtis, HSEP’s longest resident, who just got back from his foster vacay and is ready to get back to looking for his forever home. After 178 days, Curtis is coming very close to hitting six months as a shelter pup, and he’s not looking forward to celebrating that anniversary. This one-year-old Shar Pei mix has spent almost a third of his life without a family of his own, and it’s his turn to find his people.

Curtis is a well-behaved and endlessly goofy pup who loves everyone he meets and has mastered the play/chill balance. While he loves to play in any form (toys, walks, wrestling, other dogs, etc), Curtis is perfectly happy sitting next to you and kicking up his feet to relax or rolling over for belly rubs at any given moment. He’s a smart boy who will show off his plethora of tricks for toys, treats, or even just a kind word. Not only that, but Curtis shows strong signs of housetraining, loves car rides, and has fantastic leash manners, so he’s the best adventure buddy you could ask for!

Whatever you want to do, Curtis wants to do it too; you’re his best friend after all! So come to HSEP and pick him up, he’s ready to go home.

Curtis' adoption fee is sponsored by SCNAVTA at PIMA.

Can’t adopt, but want to help Curty Boy find his furever family? Share his post to help him get seen!

What We’re All About

The Humane Society of El Paso (HSEP) is the oldest and largest NO-Kill animal shelter in the City and County of El Paso, Texas and have remained in continuous operation for over 66 years for the purpose of building a better community for all animals through adoptions, education, foster-care, volunteer work and community events.

The HSEP is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and does not receive any funding from the City or County of El Paso, the State of Texas or the federal government. The facility is totally dependent on adoption and service fees, fundraising activities, donations from the community and grants for all of the operating expenses. The HSEP is NOT affiliated with any national organization such as the Humane Society of the United States, nor is it a member agency of the United Way of El Paso County.

The HSEP also has an on-site veterinary clinic to provide necessary medical care to residents. The facility does not provide veterinary services to the public or to owned animals. In accordance with state law, all animals adopted out of the HSEP are surgically sterilized prior to release to a new pet parent.

In 2010, the Humane Society of El Paso became a no-kill shelter. Our goal now is to help make El Paso a no-kill city by collaborating with animal welfare organizations within our community.
