Dare we say the temps are getting cooler? Bentley and the other dogs have enjoyed being able to exercise again on some evenings. They also liked our temperature controlled trainings, but a good walk at the end of the day is always a favorite.

This month we are participating on Clear the Shelters, a national campaign that help promotes dogs in shelters to get adopted! NBCUniversal Local is holding its nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign for the 11th consecutive year. Clear The Shelters' adoption initiative will run from Aug. 1 to 31, while an extended donation effort is underway now through Sept. 15.
For us, is not about "clear the shelter" in 30 days, is mainly showcase our dogs looking for homes for way too long. We know most of our dogs require special families willing to give the time and space for them to call it a forever home. We provide post-adoption support as long as needed. Some of our dogs have been with us for years and it is time for them to get the home they deserve!
Feature here is Shadow that have been with us for a while, you can see on his bio more info about his life! How can he is not being adopted by now, goes beyond us!
Remember you need to fill an adoption inquiry so we can arrange a meet and greet if you think Shadow will fit in your household :)

We use lickmats all the time here — settling dogs into naptime, keeping them occupied while husbandry tasks are completed, giving them something enjoyable to do while they wait for us to clean their rooms. The applications are endless.

Thank you to the anonymous donor who provided these new lickmats, plus food and peanut butter, for our pups. We will put it all to good use. ❤️

Update: thank you to the people who reached out to help the kittens. We understand that our Venmo isn’t working for some donors right now. We’re looking into the issue, but for now, we’ve provided a new link at the end of this post.

——————

Will you help a few kittens?

Our recent discovery of kittens in our pasture has led to unexpected expenses. Our team has been paying for one kitten’s care and all of the cats’ food out of their personal pockets, but at this point, we need to ask for help.

We need to complete vet work for 3 kittens currently (spay/neuter, vaccinations, etc) so that we can adopt them into loving homes. We have at least 3 other kittens on the property who we are still trying to trap, and they will need vet care if/when we’re successful.

Please donate via the link below if you can help us pay for veterinary care. Every dollar makes a difference, and once we receive the donations, we’ll schedule their appointments at the clinic. Thank you!!

Less than 2 weeks to support our envelope fundraiser! In addition to random prizes on the envelopes we are doing raffles for any envelope that was adopted.
For example, for people that adopted envelopes from 101-150 they will enter into a raffle for 1 Amazon $25 gift card and 1 Starbucks $50 gift card and 1 Walmart $25 gift card. In this group we only have 3 envelopes adopted, so adopt more envelopes on this group and your probabilities to win one of these prizes is HUGE!
We are doing the raffles by on 9/1 or when we adopted out all the envelopes on that group. The closest group of envelopes is from 1-50 as we only have 13 more envelopes to be adopted.

Adding Copper's pic for attention ❤ your support helps us keep Copper comfortable until he finds his forever home!
*Our goal for our summer was $20,000 and we have only raised ~$3,000. We thank all of you for your support, but we need to keep raising funds so we can catch up with our regular bills as we also fundraise for our vet bills on a different campaign. We are 100% privately funded so we are sorry we keep asking for donations, but this is the only way to keep our doors open.

Our Story

Meridian Canine Rescue is a non-profit, no kill canine rescue dedicated to giving homeless and owner surrendered dogs a second chance. Too often shelter animals are not given the time to find new families and guardians because of overcrowding. It is our goal to reduce the number of homeless and owner surrendered dogs in shelters, both locally and regionally, without the need for euthanasia.

Our first step to meeting this goal is to act as a rescue. We provide an alternative to kill shelters; where guardians can surrender their pets without fear of euthanasia. We also continue to develop relationships with overcrowded shelters so that dogs under threat of euthanasia can be transferred to our facility and have more time to find their forever homes.

Secondly, we serve as a resource and educator to the public. Through our relationships with dog trainers, the pet industry, and the veterinary community, we can educate and provide resources to help guardians find ways to keep their family members at home and out of the shelter system. We also work to educate potential adopters to ensure that they are well prepared for dog guardianship prior to adoption.

Finally, through our various volunteer programs and community outreach activities we are able spread awareness to the plight of pet overpopulation and encourage more individuals to choose adoption.
