Pet Adoption League of Gem County Idaho

Pet Adoption League of Gem County Idaho We are a non-profit animal shelter managed by volunteers and located in Emmett, Idaho. We are a non-profit, volunteer managed shelter located in Emmett, Idaho.

We also host a Pet Food Pantry and a small storefront of pet supplies at our location. We lovingly care for every animal that comes to our shelter until they are reunited with their families or placed into new homes. The animals arrive in a variety of ways, brought in by law enforcement as stray/lost, surrendered & occasionally, transferred from other shelters needing help. We treat each animal as

an individual & base adoption decisions on what is best for the animal, while considering the needs of the adopter. We encourage that cats/kittens be adopted into indoor only homes yet recognize that this is not always the most suitable solution for the cat. Therefore, we attempt to be flexible & realistic about our adoption decisions.

This is our daughter's dog. She enlisted in the military and couldn't take him. Unfortunately, we can't keep him either.

I believe that he is up to date on his shots, if he is not we take care of it. He is neutered and is a sweet boy.

He is 3 years old and is currently staying at my wife's cousin's house until we figure something out. They have 2 other labs and so it is a lot for them right now. So we'd like to find him a great home ASAP.

Please call 208-985-8829 with questions or interest.

Meet Raven!

Raven was brought in as a stray and was able to stay with a foster family while we attempted to find her owners. Unfortunately, no one came looking for this sweet girl.

Raven has been spayed, microchipped and is all caught up with vaccinations. Now she's ready for her new home.

She was initially shy when she arrived (aren't they all) but has warmed up to the volunteers at the shelter.

Come meet her. She has such a sweet soul.

https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/45791495-emmett-idaho-shepherd-unknown-type-mix

This is what the foster family said about Raven in the short time that they had her:

"She wants to stay by your side. I've kept her on a long line because we don't have fences but she doesn't wander very far before turning around and jogging back.

She has learned sit, come, and kennel since we've had her. She tolerates grooming (nails, bath, de-shedding).

When she finds a place she is happy/comfortable she will want to head towards that spot. She's quite vocal with new people, but will settle in once she's getting attention and then her tail will start wagging.

She hasn't shown any aggression towards my dog or towards our cats (all at a leash distance)."

Call now to connect with business.

Anatolian/BGS/Belgium Malinois mix puppies. Just 2 left. Need homes or foster immediately.

The pink collar pup doesn't enjoy meeting new dogs and may be best suited as an only dog.

About 12 weeks old
Two rounds of shots & deworming done.

Who are we? We are a group of dedicated volunteers doing our darnedest to support Gem County pets and their humans. Our focus is cats and dogs. 🐕‍🦺🐈

We started out years ago as a group of pet lovers who housed stray and abandoned pets in their homes. 🏘️ Through donations large and small we've evolved into the shelter we are today on a campus that regularly serves upwards of 50 animals a month.

Our volunteer rolls include 70+ volunteers🧑‍🤝‍🧑👭👬👫; some helping nearly every day and others just a few hours a month. We make volunteering as easy as possible with lots of training and flexible schedules.

We have a contract with the City of Emmett 👮🏼to take in stray dogs found in city limits. We also take strays found in the county when space allows. We hold strays five days before evaluating them for adoption.

We do "courtesy posts" on Facebook for lost and found animals and the occasional pet that needs rehomed from home. We also share information to help find homes for accidental litters and for fosters who end up with dumped pets...even some outside our area.

Together with Animal Medical Center, we offer low-cost spay/neuter vouchers for Gem County's feral cats👹. What's feral you ask? If you can pet it, it ain't feral. 🙃

All of our pets are vetted (including spay/neuter) before we adopt them out. Our team selects homes based on a variety of factors we think are best for the pet. Our adoption fees are often half of what other shelters cost💰--meaning we often "lose money" when vet bills and other care are taken into consideration.

We also host a Pet Food Pantry for folks struggling to put food in the bowl 🥣. And our storefront is full of new and donated pet supplies, locally roasted coffee☕, and local art. Most items are available for a donation.

We have an aluminum can recycling program♻️, too. The proceeds of which pays almost our entire electric bill 💡 each month.

We are almost entirely funded by donations. We are a 501c3, so your donations give you tax benefits in addition to a warm fuzzy feeling 🥰 for helping our clients. We partner with Animal Medical Center for vet care. Together with them and our awesome financial supporters, we can keep our doors open, our fees low, and our clients safe and sound.

If you don't know us or haven't been in in a while, we invite you to stop by. We've got lots of new items in our storefront 🛍️ and a load of new kittens. We also have an AWESOME UTV you can win in a drawing.

We'd love to talk to you about volunteer and foster opportunities, too. We can guarantee lots of wagging tails and purring rubs. And the tears will be happy ones...this is not a sad place. And don't worry, we won't let you take them all home. 🤣

Thanks for reading this far. If you have any questions, just give us a call. 🐾

You can learn even more about us on our website. (See if you can find the DONATE button 😉)

Yep ... today!

💙💕💙💕💙💕💙

Here kitty, kitty, kitty.

Come see us Saturday! We've harvested a bushel of kittens (16-21 weeks old) and they are just wiggling for new homes.

They're getting vetted right now, and we're hoping the whole crop will be ready for display on Saturday. If not, we'll have more to share next week. If you are looking for a particular s*x, color, or breed just let us know

(Picture for attention. No kitties were harmed in the creation of this post.)

C.J. Strike Reservoir in Owyhee County has an active cyanobacterial bloom and a health advisory has been issued. People and pets should stay out of the water. Cyanobacteria are a natural part of Idaho’s water bodies, but when temperatures rise, their populations can bloom and toxins can be released into the water. Exposure to cyanotoxins through skin contact or ingestion can cause mild skin irritation, upset stomach, and more. Effects can be more serious in animals since they are more likely to drink the water. Blooms don’t all look the same; they may look like mats, foam, spilled paint, or surface scum and have a foul odor. Use caution when recreating in and around water. When in doubt, stay out and keep pets out of the water.

💙 Meet Blu! 💙

📍 Blu is NOT at PAL—he’s currently at the City of Wilder. We don’t usually post dogs for other organizations, but this sweet boy really needs help finding his forever home!

Blu is a 4-year-old neutered Pit Bull who’s been waiting since August 25th. He’s super sweet, good with kids and other dogs, and has had some obedience training. He also recently got his parvo vaccine, so he’s ready to go!

✨ Why you’ll love Blu:
🐾 Gentle, affectionate, and loyal
🐾 Kid- and dog-friendly
🐾 Smart and eager to please

The City of Wilder isn’t set up for long-term stays, and Blu has already been there longer than usual. Let’s help him find the family he deserves! 🏡

👉 Interested? Call the City of Wilder at (208) 482-6204.
