Happy Juneteenth!!

While many people have heard the name, not everyone knows the history behind it. Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas and informed enslaved African Americans that they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Meet Brutus 🖤

Brutus is our 11-year-old black cat, and at nearly 20 pounds, he’s convinced his nickname is The Baby Panther.

He was my very first pet as a young adult, which means he’s been there through some of life’s biggest milestones: New homes, new adventures, new pets, and now a growing family.

Out of everyone in the family, Brutus has chosen our one-year-old son as his favorite person. He patiently tolerates the hugs and tail pulls, follows him around the house, and seems to understand that kids deserve a little extra grace.

One of the things Brutus has taught us is that every animal is different. Some are playful, some are independent, some want constant attention, and some just want a quiet place to relax and feel comfortable.

That idea has carried over into Creekside. We know that every pet who stays with us will have their own personality, routines, preferences, and comforts. Our goal isn’t just to provide a place for pets to stay; it’s to create an environment where they can feel safe, understood, and cared for as individuals🐾

Drywall is almost done!!

🚧 Construction Update! 🐾

We’re excited to share that drywall is nearly complete!

It’s incredible to see the spaces where dogs will play, cats will relax, and pets of all kinds will feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their families are away.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but crossing another major milestone off the list has us feeling grateful and excited for what’s to come.

Stay tuned for more updates as Creekside continues to take shape and don’t forget we’re already booking for July 1st and beyond!!

From abandoned puppy to loyal companion. Bella reminds us every day how resilient, loving, and incredible dogs can be🐾

Meet Bella 🩶

Bella is our 5-year-old Pitbull, and she came into our lives after being abandoned in a Spokane parking lot.

When she was found, she was injured and facing an uncertain future. Today, she is one of the most loving, loyal, and gentle dogs we know.

Bella has become Olive’s constant companion. She helps Olive navigate our 20 acres, gives her confidence to explore, and helps calm her anxiety when we’re away. Watching the bond between them is another reminder of how incredible dogs truly are.

Bella has a heart for everyone she meets. She loves being close to her people, soaking up attention, and making sure no one in the family feels alone.

Her story also reminds us that every dog deserves a second chance. Sometimes all a dog needs is safety, patience, and someone willing to believe in them.

At Creekside, we know that every dog arrives with their own story. Some are confident, some are nervous, some have faced challenges, and some simply need a little extra understanding🐾

Meet Olive 🤍

Olive is our 7-year-old Catahoula, and she was born both deaf and blind.

She is confident, playful, stubborn, happy, and completely obsessed with people. Her favorite game in the world is tug-of-war with her rope, and she still gets excited for snow days like a puppy.

Learning how to communicate with Olive changed our lives. She taught us patience, consistency, trust, and how important it is to make dogs feel safe and understood in their environment.

Finding care for a dog with special needs can feel overwhelming. We know what it feels like to wonder if someone will truly understand your dog, respect their routines, notice their stress signals, and care for them the way you do.

Olive helped shape the kind of place we’re building here at Creekside. Disabilities or not, every dog deserves to feel safe, loved, and cared for!

And Olive reminds us every day that dogs are far more capable than most people realize🐾
