Dewey and Hanz did great on their walk today! 🐾 Dewey met lots of dogs and people and handled it like a pro — calm and focused the whole way. 👏 Hanz worked on staying quiet around people and other pups, and he made awesome progress too!

Rain can’t stop the midweek fun around here! 🌧️🐾 Our daycare crew made the most of the soggy weather with plenty of playtime and tail wags. A little drizzle just adds to the excitement!

Miss Allura also got to enjoy a nice walk and some treadmill time today — staying active no matter what the weather brings! 💪🐶

❤️ A Message to Our Community ❤️

We know that times are incredibly hard and scary right now. With the recent shutdown causing loss of wages, delays, and SNAP complications, so many families are facing challenges—right here at the holidays. Some of our very own clients have shared their worries about feeding themselves, much less their pets.

We hear you. We see you. And we want to help.

Colonial Canine, along with some amazing local business partners, is working on creating a small Pet Food Pantry to support families in need during this difficult time. Our goal is simple: no family should ever have to surrender a beloved pet because they can’t afford food or basic supplies.

It may not be much, but it’s a start—and if everyone does something, together we can do big things. ❤️🐾

We are asking for help from our community:
✅ Do you know of a location—big or small—where a small pantry could be set up?
✅ Are you a local business or individual able to donate dry or canned dog and cat food, treats, cat litter, or basic pet supplies?

Even the smallest contribution makes a difference to a pet parent who feels alone or overwhelmed.

If you have ideas, resources (we are totally out of our element here), or would like to donate, please message us. Let’s show our community—and its pets—that kindness can carry us through hard times.

🌈 In Loving Memory of Plato 🌈

We received some heartbreaking news and wanted to take a moment to honor a very special member of our Colonial Canine family. Our beloved boarding regular, Plato, has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Plato was one-of-a-kind. While he wasn’t too sure about making dog friends outside of his sister, Lagertha, he made up for it a thousand times over with the way he loved our staff. He always knew which of us had the best scratches, who would lay on the floor for snuggles, and exactly how to melt hearts with those soft, soulful eyes. He was a “people dog” through and through — and we cherished every moment of his trust and affection.

We feel incredibly grateful to have been a part of his life: the tail wags, the goofy quirks, the nap time cuddles, and the deep bond he formed with our team. Dogs like Plato remind us how special this work truly is.

To Plato’s family — thank you for sharing him with us. We know how deeply he was loved, and we are holding you in our thoughts and hearts during this difficult time. 💛🐾

🎓🐾 Puppy Class Graduates! 🐾🎓

Big round of applause (and maybe a few happy barks) for our newest puppy class graduates! These little learners have worked hard mastering their sits, stays, and recalls — and of course, perfecting the art of being adorable. 💕

We’re so proud of the progress each pup has made and can’t wait to see them continue to grow into confident, well-mannered dogs. Congrats to all our star students and their dedicated humans — you did it! 🎉🐶✨

🌧️ A little rain never stopped our daycare crew! The pups were more than ready to splash, play, and make the most of this drizzly Tuesday. Nothing like a few puddles to add some extra fun to playtime! 🐾💦

Freya also took advantage of the excitement to work on some of her obedience in the play yard, surrounded by all those fun distractions — and of course, Apollo decided it looked like too much fun not to join in! 🐶✨
